Redmi 9 was launched earlier this month in Spain by Xiaomi. The Mobile brand has now launched the device in China. The phone comes with MIUI 12 based Android 10 and up to 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage while retaining other specifications to the one launched in Spain.

 

Redmi 9, launched as a successor to Redmi 8 that launched in October 2019. A phone with the number M2004J19I, which is a match to Redmi 9 has been listed on the BIS and TUV Rheinland certification website. However, the phone has been seen to be listed under the POCO brand, making it clear that it would be launching under this brand. If the launch does happen under the POCO brand, it would be the most affordable phone.

Redmi 9 Specifications and Features

Xiaomi’s Redmi 9 comes with a 6.53-inch Full HD+ display and is fitted with a waterdrop notch on the top. The device comes equipped with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, a quad camera that has a 13MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, 5MP macro, 2MP depth camera, and an 8MP selfie camera.

Under the hood, the Redmi 9 features an Helio G80 processor. The smartphone runs on the latest Android 10 with MIUI 12 skinned on the top. The Redmi 9 will be backed by a 5,020mAh battery unit with 18W charging via a USB-C port. The smartphone includes 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5mm audio jack, NFC, IR Blaster, and a microSD card slot in terms of connectivity options. The device is available in two storage options, 6GB and 128GB, and three RAM configurations, in China.

 

Redmi 9 Availability and Pricing

Redmi 9 with 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage is priced at RMB 799 (approximately Rs 8,500). 4GB RAM + 128GB internal storage variant is priced RMB 999 (approximately Rs 10,700). The high-end variant with 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage is priced at RMB 1,199 (approximately Rs 12,800).
