Realme 2 has been launched in India at a recent event. While the Realme was launched earlier this year as an Oppo sub-brand, it is now become an independent brand in the Indian market.

The Realme 2 brings along interesting features such as face unlock, a 4,230mAh battery, dual 4G VoLTE support, and up to 4GB of RAM. While it brings most of what Realme 1 has, it has only 4GB of RAM compared to 6GB and it is powered by Snapdragon 450 SoC.

However, unlike the Realme 1, the Realme 2 features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The Realme 2 will be available in India at a starting price of Rs. 8,990 for its variant which would possess 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage. The variant which will come with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage will be available at a price tag of Rs. 10,990.

The smartphone will be available for sale in India through e-commerce portal Flipkart from September 4 onwards. The Realme 2 will come in two colour options namely Diamond Black and Diamond Red. The company has said that the smartphone with Diamond Blue colour option will also go on sale in early October. At the price at which the Realme 2 can be purchased, it will compete with smartphones such as Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 and Xiaomi Mi A2.

The company has come up with a launch offer for Realme 2. This will include a discount of Rs. 750 on HDFC Bank credit card and debit card purchases and up to 120 GB of additional data and benefits worth up to Rs. 4,200 offered by Reliance Jio. The users can also enjoy no-cost EMI options while buying the Realme 2.

As for the specifications, the dual-SIM (Nano) Realme 2 runs ColorOS 5.1 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. It packs in a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 720×1520 pixels and with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The screen-to-body ratio of the smartphone is 88.8 percent. It offers a maximum brightness of 360 nits.

Under the hood, the Realme2 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC, coupled with an Adreno 506 GPU, 3GB/ 4GB RAM, and 32GB/ 64GB of onboard storage. The in-built storage is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.

The Realme 2 boasts of a horizontally stacked dual rear camera setup with a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a f/2.2 aperture. It comprises a 2-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The selfie camera of the smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel sensor with fixed focus, an f/2.2 aperture, and an 85-degree wide-angle lens.

The connectivity options of the smartphone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, Micro-USB with OTG support, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone is powered by a 4,230mAh battery which comes with a bundled 5V/2A (10W) adaptor in the box.

The Realme 2 comes with sensors such as accelerometer, ambient light sensor, face unlock sensor, fingerprint sensor (rear-mounted), and proximity sensor. The dimensions of the smartphone is 156.2×75.6×8.2mm and it weighs 168 grams.
