Panasonic launched its eagerly anticipated Lumix S series of full-frame mirrorless cameras in the Indian market. This product was first seen at the Photokina last year. The Panasonic Lumix S1 and S1R are both mirrorless cameras that were announced in February this year. The company has now launched the Lumix S1 and S1R in India. The Lumix S1 comes with a 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor. The camera is hence aimed at photography enthusiasts. The Lumix S1R features a humongous 47.3-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor. It has been built keeping professional photographers in mind. The Panasonic Lumix S1 and Lumix S1R are priced at Rs. 1,99,990 and Rs. 2,99,990 respectively (body-only).

The Lumix S comes with a 24-105mm f/4.0 Macro OIS lens kit. The prices along with the kit shoots up for both Lumix S1 and S1R. The cameras and kit together come with a price tag of Rs. 2,67,990 and Rs. 3,67,990 respectively. While both the cameras can be purchased online, the company has not released an official statement on the availability of the cameras online.

Both the Panasonic Lumix S1 and Lumix S1R are based on the L-mount standard. The standard is a result of an alliance between Leica, Panasonic, and Sigma. As per Panasonic, the L-mount offers a clear and supreme imaging experience. There are three new lenses on offer currently including the Lumix S Pro 50mm f/1.4, Lumix S Pro 70-200mm f/4.0 OIS, and Lumix S 24-105mm f/4.0 Macro OIS. Panasonic has also said that there will be 42 more lenses available for the L-mount series over the next two years.

The Lumix S1 comes with a 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor. It has a native ISO range from 100-51,200. The camera comes with a high-resolution mode that enables users to capture 96-megapixel ultra-high precision photo with pixel shift technology shooting. The Lumix S1R comes with a 47.3-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor that is equipped with a native ISO range from 100-25,600. The Lumix S1 also features a high-resolution mode. However, the output comes to 187-Megapixel.

The cameras are powered by the new Venus Imaging Engine. It offers high-speed and high-precision autofocus system that is based on advanced control technology over the lens. The other USP features of the Lumix S1 and Lumix S1R include HDR still photo, 4K video recording at up to 60fps, slow motion video at up to 180fps, 6K and 4K photo, 5-axis dual image stabilisation etc. It also comes with a high-speed consecutive shot at 9fps and 6fps. The Lumix S1 and Lumix S1R are built using a high rigidity magnesium-alloy body. It comes with dust and splash resistance that enables the cameras to safeguard itself from heavy and rough use. It also makes the cameras freeze resistant right down to -10-degrees Celsius.
