The 4G variant of Oppo A53 has launched in the Indian market a couple of months ago. The smartphone was powered by the budget-segment chipset from Qualcomm, i.e., Snapdragon 460. In recent developments, the brand has revealed the Oppo A53’s 5G version in its home market as the most competitive 5G smartphone.

Though the Oppo A53 5G comes with a featherweight build, the brand hasn’t skipped on a larger battery and other key features such as dual 5G, triple camera, etc. The weight distribution is also on point.

Oppo A53 5G: Key specs & features

With a punch-hole camera cutout on the top left, Oppo A53 5G sports a large 6.5” LCD panel with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080*2400 pixels. The panel comes with a 90Hz refresh rate along with a touch sampling rate of 120Hz. The peek brightness goes up to 480 nits and the pixel density is 405ppi. Oppo also claims a higher screen-to-body ratio of 90.5%.

At its core, Oppo A53 5G has MediaTek’s Dimensity 720 chip that is quite power-efficient in day to day use. The top variant comes with a 6GB + 128GB combination and there will be no support for microSD cards. With Oppo’s ColorOS 7.2 on top, the smartphone will boot on Android 10 out of the box.

Coming to the optics, the device features a square-shaped triple-camera module with a 16MP f/2.2 primary sensor with a dual 2MP macro and depth sensor locked at 4cm focal length. The punch-hole cutout houses an 8MP selfie-snapper. The camera app will offer features like night mode, slow-mo video, panorama, portrait mode, 4K video recording, time-lapse, etc.

Oppo has also not compromised on the biometrics side, users will get a fingerprint scanner integrated with the power button. The connectivity features include a 3.5mm audio port, dual 5G support, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and USB Type-C. The complete package will be powered by a 4,040 mAh battery with no rapid charge. It will charge only up to 10W.

Pricing and availability

The base variant of Oppo A53 5G with 4/64GB comes at a retail price of RMB 1,299, and the 6/128 GB variant is available at RMB 1,499. It will be somewhere around ₹14,600 and ₹16,900, respectively. There are no further details known yet in terms of foreign availability. The device will be available in Lake Green, Secret Night Black, and Streamer Purple.
