Oppo R17 Pro to Launch in India Soon: Oppo Teases via Twitter

Chinese handset maker Oppo launched its Oppo R17 Pro smartphone in its hometown a few months ago. The phone is a beefed-up version of its sibling Oppo R17 which was launched alongside the same. And now the company seems to be gearing up to launch the Oppo R17 Pro in India based on its latest teaser post on twitter.

The teaser video features the alphabet ‘R’ which suggests that the phone belongs to the R-series. The text reads, “Stay tuned! Something new is coming up. #OPPO R-Series.” The tweet does not reveal any other details like the launch date or the exact name of the device. But it highlights similar pink color on the right edge as seen on Oppo R17 Pro.

Oppo R17 Pro Price

The Oppo R17 Pro sole variant i.e. 8GB RAM + 128GB storage comes with a price tag of CNY 4,299 which is approximately Rs. 43,800.

Oppo R17 Pro Features and Specifications

The highlights of the Oppo R17 Pro are its triple rear camera set up, water drop shaped display notch and an in-display fingerprint sensor. It flaunts a 6.4-inch display with a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels and 91.5 percent aspect ratio. The device draws power from an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC coupled with 8GB of RAM. The onboard storage capacity of the phone is 128GB. The dual-SIM phone runs runs ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box and is backed by a 3,700mAh battery with Oppo’s proprietary Super VOOC technology.

In the camera department, you get a unique triple rear camera set up which consists of a 12-megapixel sensor with f/1.5-2.4 aperture, a 20-megapixel sensor with an aperture of f/2.6, and a third sensor that is actually a TOF 3D stereo camera. The front hosts a 25-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

In terms of dimensions, the Oppo R17 Pro measures 157.6 x 74.6 x 7.9 mm and weighs in at 183 grams. Connectivity options provided with the device are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, and NFC support.

It is still not clear if the company would launch the Oppo R17 alongside the Oppo R17 Pro. Our guess is that Oppo will only launch the Pro variant of R17 in India as it already has F9 and F9 Pro phones in the similar price segment.
