OPPO R17 Neo Specifications Leaked Online: Launch is Expected Soon

After launching R17 and R17 Pro smartphones in August, the Chinese smartphone maker OPPO seems all set to expand its portfolio of R series smartphone with R17 Neo. Full specifications of the phone have leaked online (via MySmartPrice) which suggests that the phone will be a toned-down version of the OPPO R17, which has become one of the most popular phones for the company since its launch.

According to the leaked specifications, the Oppo R17 Neo will be powered by Snapdragon 660 SoC as opposed to Snapdragon 670 SoC found in Oppo R17. It is expected to feature 4GB of RAM along with 128GB of onboard storage. There will be an option to expand the storage using microSD card. The phone will be dual SIM and will arrive with ColorOS 5.2 based Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. The battery capacity of the device will be 3,600mAh.

In terms of display, the R17 Neo could sport 6.41-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 pixels. There could also be a water drop shaped notch at the top which will host the front camera.

In terms of optics, there will be a dual camera set up on the rear consisting 16-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.75 aperture + 2-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.4 aperture. For selfies, there will be a 25-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture.

Connectivity options expected in the device are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and GPS.

Interestingly, the above specifications match with that of Oppo R15X smartphone that had recently surfaced online via China Telecom. So, there is a possibility that the Oppo R15X and Oppo R17 Neo are same devices with different names for different markets. However, there is no official word or teaser yet from the company, thus we suggest you to take these rumours with a pinch of salt.
