
Oppo Made The Smart TV Debut With Its Smart TV S1 And Smart TV R1 Models
We are witnessing a lot of tech-giants stepping into the smart TV market and Oppo is the latest one in the lineup. In a recent event, the brand has introduced two smart TVs in the Chinese market. Between the two variants, Smart TV S1 is the premium one whereas Smart TV R1 is more of a budget-friendly one. The former will be available in only a single screen size of 65” whereas the latter will come in 2 screen sizes, 55” and 65”. The smart TVs will come with an integrated pop-up camera module and 4K display panels.
The Chinese giant Oppo’s latest TVs will give a direct clash to the offerings of Xiaomi, OnePlus, Realme, Honor, etc. Let’s now dive into the details.
Oppo Smart TV S1: Key specs and features
Equipped with a 65” QLED panel, Smart TV S1 comes with a 4K resolution of 3840*2160 pixels. The screen will also offer a high refresh rate of 120 Hz along with VRR support that will keep the refresh rate dynamic in the range of 48 Hz to 120 Hz for enhanced gaming. The QLED panel can go up to 1500 nits of brightness with a whopping 120% NTSC color gamut. Apart from this, the TV will also come with Dolby Vision support, MEMC, HDR10+, and HLG support.
The pop-up camera will house a 1080p sensor for video conferencing. The feature was earlier witnessed in the Honor Vision Smart TV. The sound output by 18 onboard speakers will go up to 85W, users will also get Dolby Atmos support.
Coming to the internals, this premium offering by Oppo will be powered by MediaTek’s MT9950 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz paired with 8.5 gigs of RAM. Smart TV S1 will come with onboard storage of 128 GB. The TV will boot on the brand’s own ColorOS TV. It will also have all the connectivity features like WiFi 6, 2 x HDMI 2.1 port, an HDMI 2.0 port, Bluetooth 5.1, Ethernet, NFC, and 2 x USB 3.0 ports.
Oppo Smart TV R1: Key specs and features
This one falls in more of an affordable segment when compared to the Smart TV S1. Oppo’s budget offering Smart TV R1 will come in two display variants, 55” and 65”. Both the sizes will support 4K resolution with a toned-down 93% DCI-P3 color gamut and MEMC support. The smart TVs also come with TUV Rheinland’s blue light filter certification and are equipped with a dual-speaker system offering sound output up to 20W.
Oppo Smart TV R1 will draw its power from MediaTek MT9652 paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. The boot time will be just 1 second and the supported video playback on both the variants will be up to 8K.
Apart from the aforementioned features, everything is similar to the Smart TV S1 which will include an integrated webcam, FFM, WiFi 6, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, and 3 x HDMI 2.1 ports. The TVs will boot into the ColorOS skin based on the Android platform.
Pricing & availability
The budget-friendly model Smart TV R1 will be priced at RMB 3299 and RMB 4299 for the 55” and 65” variants, respectively. This pricing will roughly translate to ₹36,195 and ₹47,165 for both the variants. The premium offering, Smart TV S1 will come at a price of RMB 7999 (around ₹87,760). As of now, both the models are put on sale in the Chinese market and there is no information on foreign availability.
