Oppo K1 vs Realme 2 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy M20Year 2018 was extremely busy for the budget smartphone segment in India as well as globally and year 2019 is going to be no different. In fact, we can expect it to be more buzzing. Recently China-based smartphone maker Oppo launched its Oppo K1 smartphone featuring an in-display fingerprint sensor and Hyper Boost tech for an optimised gaming experience at Rs. 16,990. Earlier, Samsung launched its new Galaxy M series including Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20, which has got a good initial response from the industry and the company set finally seems to have got it right after a poor year in the budget segment. Today we’ll compare these two smartphones with Realme 2 Pro in order to find out which one provides a better value for buyer’s money.

Here are the parameters taken into consideration for comparison:

  • Design, Display and Dimensions
  • Processor, RAM and Storage
  • OS and Battery
  • Camera Configuration
  • Price in India

Oppo K1 vs Realme 2 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy M20: Design, Display and Dimensions

The Realme 2 Pro’s design is actually one of its biggest selling points at this price range. The company has replaced the plastic diamond-patterned back with what it calls a “Dewdrop back cover.” The available colour options include- Ice Lake, Blue Ocean, and Black Sea. The Oppo K1 follows Oppo’s conventional design language and looks similar to other Oppo smartphones in this price segment. It comes with a beautiful gradient design on the back coupled with the classic 3D glass back and metal build. The front gets a tendy waterdrop-notch display. Overall, the phone looks and feels premium for its price range. The Galaxy M20 features a plastic back which gives the device a clean look (although the quality of plastic could have been better) and provides a comfortable grip. On the contrary, the front looks quite premium, thanks to the lovely waterdrop (Infinity-V) display. Design is a matter of choice and thus we leave it up to you to pick a winner in this department.

The Oppo K1 sports a 6.4-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, 402ppi pixel density, and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 resulting into 91 percent screen-to-body ratio. The Galaxy M20 flaunts 6.3-inch Infinity-V display with an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. While the Realme 2 Pro comes equipped with 6.3-inch FHD+ dewdrop display with 1080 x 2340 pixel resolution, a 19:5:9 aspect ratio and 409 ppi pixel density.  Oppo K1 gets a slight advantage in terms of size as well as colour reproduction, thanks to its AMOLED display which also makes it a better device for media consumption.

In terms of dimensions, the Realme 2 Pro measures 156.7 × 74.0 × 8.5 mm and weighs about a74 grams. The Oppo K1 has dimensions of 158.3 x 75.5 x 7.4 mm and weight of 156 grams, while the Galaxy M20 has dimensions of 156.4 x 74.5 x 8.8 mm and weight of 186 grams.

The Oppo K1 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 660 SoC clocked at up to 1.95GHz along with the Adreno 512 GPU and 4GB of RAM. The internal storage capacity of the device is 64GB which can be further expanded using the microSD card slot (up to 256GB). The Realme 2 Pro has Qualcomm Snapdragon 660AIE chip underneath to keep things ticking. There are three variants in terms of memory- 4GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage, 6GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage, and 8GB RAM + 128GB inbuilt storage. The Galaxy M20 draws its power from Exynos 7904 SoC coupled with 3GB and 4GB RAM options and Mali-G71 MP2 GPU. The inbuilt storage capacity options are 32GB and 64GB, both of which are expandable via microSD card up to 512GB. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 performs better than Samsung Exynos 7880 and thus both Oppo K1 and Realme 2 Pro get an upper hand over the Galaxy M20 in terms of power.

Oppo K1 vs Realme 2 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy M20: OS and Battery

Oppo K1 vs Realme 2 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy M20: Camera Configuration

The Oppo K1 comes with a horizontally stacked dual camera set up which is placed at the top left corner and comprises of a 16-megapixel primary camera with f/1.7 aperture + a secondary 2-megapixel camera with f/2.4 aperture. The rear camera also has an LED flash support. The front of the device gets a 25-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture.

All three phones almost seem to be at par in terms of rear camera but the Oppo K1 and Realme 2 Pro have a better selfie camera, so the two will be preferred more over the Galaxy M20 by the selfie lovers.

The Oppo K1 is comparatively costlier than the Realme 2 Pro and Galaxy M20. But it is the only device in this price range to offer an in-display fingerprint scanner and it also offers a good display as compared to the other two. The Galaxy M20 is a good device overall that packs an impressive battery backup and comes with a cheaper price tag as compared to the other two devices. In terms of design, all three phones are almost at par and no one device stands out from the other two.
