Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has teased its new Hyper Boost mobile acceleration technology just before the launch of its latest K1 smartphone. The technology is its attempt to compete head-on with Huawei’s GPU Turbo. The technology would enable the smartphone to accelerate its overall performance during intense usage sessions.

The technology has been announced and officially launched in China. The first two smartphones from the Oppo stable to receive this technology would be Oppo R17 and R17 Pro. Other models will be subsequently receiving the Hyper Boost technology.

The Oppo Hyper Boost mobile acceleration technology has been built in an endeavour to improve the performance of the system, especially the gaming experience and the performance of applications as reported by MyDrivers. In terms of system performance, Hyper Boost has introduced a new Behaviour Aware Scheduling (BAS) function. It enables to dynamically adjust the frequency of underlying hardware in units of 0.2 milliseconds, compared to units of 20 milliseconds in Android’s Linux kernel. The Hyper Boost technology enables to examine the hardware well and provide feedback to the vendors with the help of system-level enhancements.

In the gaming arena, Oppo has collaborated with Tencent, Netease, and three major gaming engines to optimise the top 100 mobile games. The current scenario is that 11 games have been enhanced on the Oppo smartphones using this new technology. The company is yet to reveal the name of these games to the public.

As for application performance, Oppo has optimized popular applications such as WeChat, Taobai and QQMobile from Tencent. WeChat has been optimized across 11 different high-frequency usage scenarios. This has resulted in a 29.8 percent improvement in the fluidity and seamlessness of incoming and outgoing messages. The scroll through the app has been augmented by 19.9 percent and the fluidity of unread chats has been enhanced by 23.5 percent. What’s more, the GIFs also run 35.9 percent faster with this optimization, as claimed by the company.

Oppo has also conveyed that it will judiciously combine the characteristics of AI (artificial intelligence) with that of Hyper Boost to enhance the efficiency of the process in the future.
