Oppo Find X Launched

Chinese smartphone maker Oppo, which is popular for making selfie focused smartphones, has launched its latest flagship dubbed as Find X at an event in Paris. The highlight of the device is its three pop-up cameras- dual camera on the back and single on the front. The top edge of the phone containing the three cameras slides out from the top frame as soon as the camera app is launched. Interestingly, the movable section isn’t just a tab with a camera on it (like Nex S) but it’s an entire chunk of the phone. The pop-out mechanism is very quick too i.e. the camera set up pops out in just half a second, so you don’t have to worry about missing out on any moment to be captured.

For those, who are curious to see the phone hands-on, here’s the video by YugaTech…

Oppo Find X Price:

The Oppo Find X is a premium segment phone priced at EUR 999 i.e. roughly USD 1155 and INR. 78,700 (for 256GB variant).

Oppo Find X Design and Display:

The Find X flaunts an innovative design, especially when most of the Android phone makers are copying the iPhone X’s top notch in order to improve the screen-to-body ratio. Oppo claims that it has managed to achieve an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 93.8 per cent due to its unique design approach. The phone sports a tall 6.4-inch curved edge-to-edge AMOLED bezel-less display with 2340 x 1080 pixel resolution.

Oppo Find X OS, Processor and Other Hardware:

Underneath the glass body of Oppo Find X, sits a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset that powers the device along with 8GB of RAM. The internal storage capacity of the phone is 256GB. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box which is topped with Oppo’s proprietary ColorOS 5.1. The battery capacity of the device is 3,730mAh battery which comes with VOOC fast charging support.

Oppo Find X Camera:

As mentioned earlier, the phone features a pop-up camera system which comprises of dual camera set up of 16MP + 20MP on the rear and a 25MP camera on the front capable of taking 3D AI backed selfies. The pop-up camera system means there’s no bump on the back side so the phone can rest flat on any surface and won’t rock awkwardly.

Oppo Find X Security Features:

For security purpose, there’s 3D facial unlock but there’s no fingerprint authentication system. So, the phone requires the system to slide out, look at your face, unlock the phone and then slide back in. Which sounds a bit tedious .and raises question on the durability. But as claimed by Oppo, the mechanism was tested for about 300,000 slides there shouldn’t be any durability worries for at least five years as an average user unlocks the phone about 100-150 times a day.
