After being spotted on multiple bench-marking and certification websites, the Oppo A79 has finally gone official in China. It sports a minimum bezel and carries the design language of the Oppo F5 which was launched recently. It sports a 6-inch Full HD+ AMOLED 2.5D curved display with a tall 18:9 aspect ratio and 86% screen-to-body ratio. The display also gets an added layer of protection in the form of Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
It is a metal unibody phone with dimensions of 157 x 76 x 7.2 mm. It weighs just about 140 grams. It is powered by a MediaTek Helio P23 SoC that hosts a 2.5 GHz octa-core 16 nm processor coupled with 800 MHz ARM Mali G71 MP2 GPU. The A79 bears in 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage. The microSD card slot can take another 256 GB.
On the photography front, the Oppo A79 gets a 16-megapixel rear facing camera with f/1.8 aperture coupled with LED flash while. The selfie shooter gets a 16-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The A79 gets a fingerprint sensor at the back, 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS.
The A79 runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with Oppo’s ColorOS 3.2 on top of it. The power supply is handled by the 3000 mAh battery which comes with support for VOOC flash charging technology. It promises up to 2 hours of talk time with just 5 minutes of charging.
The OPPO A79 is up for order currently in China with deliveries commencing from December 1st. It will come in Champagne Gold, Black and Blue colors and is priced at 2399 yuan (approx. Rs. 24,000).
