Chinese smartphone makers are dominating the sub-10k smartphone segment and Xiaomi is the leading the way with its latest offering- Redmi Note 7. However, its other Chinese counterparts are trying their best to have as much share of the pie as possible. In an attempt to do so, China-based Oppo has silently expanded its budget smartphone offering by means of Oppo A5s. The smartphone was earlier launched by the company in Russia dubbed as OPPO AX5s. The phone will go on sale in India soon via offline channels followed by leading online stores. There’s another Chinese player, Realme, that launched its Realme 3 smartphone last month to take on the Redmi Note 7. The Oppo A5s is priced in India at Rs. 9,990 for the sole 2GB RAM + 32GB inbuilt storage model. It will be available in Black and Red colour options. The company is expected to launch another 4GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage variant later on in Green and Gold colour options.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 is priced at Rs. 9,999 for the base variant i.e. 3GB RAM + 32GB inbuilt storage and Rs. 11,999 for the top variant i.e. 4GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage variant. There are three colour options available for the interested buyers- Onyx Black, Sapphire Blue and Ruby Red. The phone can be purchased via Mi.com, Flipkart, Mi Homes, and Mi Stores.
The Realme 3 yet another competitively priced smartphone that starts at Rs. 8,999 for the base model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The top variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage has been priced at Rs. 10,999. The phone will be available in Radiant Blue and Dynamic Black gradient colour options and is being sold via eCommerce giant Flipkart.com.

The Oppo A5s is comes equipped with a 6.2-inch LCD display with HD+ resolution of 720×1520 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. There’s a tiny waterdrop notch on the top of the screen which houses the selfie camera.
The Redmi Note 7 bears a 6.3-inch full-HD+ LTPS display with screen resolution of 1080×2340 pixels and aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The screen is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top and houses a tiny water drop shaped notch.
The Realme 3 6.2-inch HD+ (1520×720) display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a dewdrop notch at the top. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass against accidental damage and scratches. The phone is also splash and dust resistant.
Undoubtedly the Redmi Note 7 is a winner in this department as it sports a slightly larger display with much better resolution.
In terms of dimensions, the Oppo A5s measures 155.9 x 75.4 x 8.2 mm and weighs about 170 grams. The Redmi Note 7 measures 159.2 x 75.2 x 8.1 mm and weighs in at 186 grams. The Redmi Note 7 is powered by Snapdragon 660 SoC along with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage respectively. However, there is no option to expand the storage as the phone lacks microSD card support.
The Realme 3 has a quad-core MediaTek P70 chipset underneath to keep things ticking. Further there’s Mali-G72 MP3 GPU onboard for graphics. The phone comes in two RAM configurations i.e. 3GB & 4GB. In terms of storage as well there are two options- 32GB and 64GB. The storage is expandable up to 256GB via dedicated microSD card slot on both the variants.
Once again, the Redmi Note 7 gets the top spot in terms of performance, thanks to its powerful Snapdragon 660 SoC. The only drawback is that the storage is non-expandable.

The Redmi Note 7 is shipped with Google’s latest Android 9 Pie OS out of the box based on MIUI 10. It is fueled by an impressive 4,000mAh capacity battery that comes with support for Quick Charge 4 and can last up to 2 days on a single charge as claimed by the company.
The Realme 3 houses a comparatively larger 4,230mAh battery and runs Android Pie-based ColorOS 6.0.
In terms of sheer battery capacity, the Realme 3 has a slight edge over Redmi Note 7 due to its 4230mAh capacity battery but the Redmi Note 7 has advantage of fast charge support on its side.

The oppo A5s sports a horizontally stacked dual rear camera setup which comprises of a 13-megapixel primary sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The front hosts an 8-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.0 lens
