BBK Electronics’ subsidiary OnePlus has finally launched its OnePlus 9 series. A major portion of the launch details were revealed already and as expected, the OnePlus 9 lineup includes OnePlus 9, 9 Pro, and a more affordable OnePlus 9R 5G. The higher variants are launched globally whereas the gaming-centric OnePlus 9R 5G is for the Indian market, only. In the lineup, it is the most affordable one where the brand has fetched down some of the high-end specs of its elder sisters.

A few highlights:

• OnePlus 9R 5G will sport Snapdragon 870 SoC.
• With gaming in mind, OnePlus has launched it exclusively for the Indian market.
• The base variant of the OnePlus 9 lineup will be available at a retail price of ₹39,999.

The mid-tier India-exclusive offering will sport a 120Hz AMOLED panel producing Full HD+ resolution. The panel is 6.55” and the chipset at its core is Qualcomm’s SD 870. The quad-camera setup will have the primary sensor of 48MP.

OnePlus 9R 5G: Key specs & features

At its core, the most affordable OnePlus 9 series’ smartphone, OnePlus 9R 5G will sport a Snapdragon 870 chipset paired with up to 12 gigs of RAM and UFS 3.1 256GB onboard storage. With a 6.55” Full HD+ panel, the smartphone is offering a refresh rate of 120Hz. Apart from the top-notch spec sheet, OnePlus is also offering Pro Gaming mode and the device is also equipped with VC Cooling for better thermals.

Coming to the opticals, OnePlus 9R 5G comes with a quad-camera setup with a primary sensor of 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor. The primary camera will be paired with a 16MP ultra-wide Sony IMX481 sensor. There will also be a 5MP macro sensor and a 2MP lens for monochrome shots. The punch-hole notch on the front will house a 16MP sensor.

On the software front, the smartphone will boot on Android 11 with OnePlus’s OxygenOS on the top. OnePlus 9R 5G will feature a 4,500 mAh battery that will support 65W Warp charging. The brand also claims to offer a day of battery life with just 15 minutes of charging.

Pricing & availability

The 5G-equipped OnePlus 9R will be available in two memory and storage options, 8+128GB and 12+256GB. The color options that buyers will get are Lake Blue and Carbon Black. OnePlus 9R is also the most affordable in the entire lineup, available at a price of ₹39,999 and ₹43,999 for the 8GB and 12GB variants, respectively. The smartphone will go on sale via Amazon IN, OnePlus online store, OnePlus outlets, and authorized retail stores from April 15.

In terms of offers, OnePlus is offering a flat ₹2,000 discount on all the purchases done using the SBI Credit Card. All the major credit cards will also be offering a 6-month no-cost EMI option on the devices ordered from any authorized online and offline portals such as OnePlus IN, Amazon IN, etc.

There will also be a list of benefits that will be provided to the Jio customers. On the selected recharge plans, Jio will offer services worth ₹6,000. Apart from these offers, customers will also be able to opt for the Red Cable Life and Red Cable Care plans where OnePlus is offering 1TB and 120GB of cloud space, respectively. The plans can be subscribed to from March 23.
