OnePlus 6T US Launch

China-based smartphone maker OnePlus unveiled its latest flagship OnePlus 6T at an event held in New York. The mid-year flagship refresh, which was teased several times prior to the launch, offers many upgrades over its predecessor OnePlus 6 but the biggest upgrade is the in-display fingerprint scanner (named ‘Screen Unlock’) as opposed to the rear mounted scanner. The in-display fingerprint scanner can unlock the phone in 0.34 seconds as claimed by the company and it works well with the OnePlus screen protector. Another upgrade comes in the battery department, wherein the OnePlus 6T is backed by a 3,700mAh battery on board with support for fast charging and the company promises to deliver a full day of power with just 30 minutes of charge. While, the OnePlus 6 comes with 3,300mAh battery with DashCharge support. Both the phones lack wireless charging support though.

OnePlus 6T Price:

OnePlus 6T base model i.e. 6GB RAM + 128GB storage is priced in US at $549 (approx. Rs. 40,000) for the Mirror Black variant, while the 8GB RAM + 128GB Storage Mirror Black and Midnight Black variants are priced at $579 (approx. Rs. 42,500). The top model i.e. 8GBRAM + 256GB storage in Midnight Black variant comes with a price tag of $629 (approx. Rs. 46,000).

Notably, the OnePlus 6T price in India will be announced at a launch event to be held today at 8:30 PM IST. The phone is going to be Amazon exclusive for online sales, while the same will be sold offline as well via Reliance Digital outlets and OnePlus’ own stores.

OnePlus 6T Software and Hardware Configurations:

The OnePlus 6T sports a 6.41-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with 1080×2340 pixel resolution, 402ppi pixel density and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 layer of protection and features a water drop shaped notch at the top which houses the selfie camera and some other sensors. Under the hood, the phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC along with 6GB or 8GB of RAM. There are three options in terms of inbuilt storage- 128GB and 256GB. The dual-SIM phone runs OxygenOS-based on Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box and is fueled by 3,700mAh battery.

For the camera buffs, there’s a centrally placed and vertically stacked dual camera set up on the rear which comprises of 16-megapixel primary Sony IMX519 sensor with an f/1.7 aperture + a secondary 20-megapixel Sony IMX376K sensor with an f/1.7 aperture. The rear camera is capable of recording 4K video at 60fps as well as Super Slow Motion Video and has LED flash support along with OIS and EIS. For selfies and video calls there’s a 16-megapixel Sony IMX371 sensor with an f/2.0 aperture on the front. The selfie camera also doubles up as Face Unlock which can unlock the smartphone in 0.4 seconds as claimed by OnePlus.
