The phone features the largest ever display on OnePlus device along with highest ever speed (courtesy Qualcomm Snapdragon 845). The phone is also the first from OnePlus to have water resistance and full glass body design. Overall, the latest flagship from OnePlus is loaded with features that puts it in direct competition with premium devices available in the market that are twice its price. Let’s compare the OnePlus 6 against Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus (one of the best Android phones) and Apple iPhone X (the best IOS device) to find out which one is better.

The OnePlus 6 has a full glass body design that makes it look and feel good in hand. It sports a 6.28-inch full-HD+ Full Optic AMOLED display with 1080×2280 pixels resolution, 19:9 aspect ratio (an impressive 84% screen to body ratio). The display features an iPhone X like notch at the top, but there is an option to hide the same. The phone has Gorilla Glass 5 cover for added protection against scratches.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus has an aluminum frame with glass layers on top. It sports a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2960 x 1440 and aspect ratio of 18.5:9. There’s also a layer Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top.

The iPhone X also has glass design on front as well as back along with stainless steel metal frames. It sports a 5.8-inch OLED Super Retina HD display with a resolution of 2436×1125 pixels. iPhone was the first device to feature a top display notch in order to increase the viewing space, which later became a trend in almost all latest Android flagships.

The OnePlus 6 features a centrally placed vertical dual rear camera setup comprising of 16-megapixel Sony IMX519 primary sensor with a 1.22-micron pixel size, f/1.7 aperture, OIS, and EIS. The secondary sensor is 20-megapixel Sony IM376K with 1-micron pixel size and an f/1.7 aperture. The rear camera setup also features dual-LED flash. The front hosts a 16-megapixel Sony IMX371 selfie sensor with 1-micron pixels, f/2.0 aperture, and EIS. The camera setup of OnePlus 6 comes with support for Super slow-motion videos, though this is limited to 720p at 480 fps.

The dual rear camera setup of Galaxy S9 Plus consists a 12MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor. One of the highlights of the camera setup is that it features a variable aperture of f/1.5-2.4 which toggles between the two depending on the amount of light in the surroundings. At the front, there’s an 8MP sensor on the front for selfies.

The iPhone X also features a vertically stacked dual rear camera setup with 12MP (aperture of f/1.8 with focal length 28mm) + 12MP (aperture of f/2.4, focal length 52mm). The camera setup also has a LED dual tone flash support. The selfie sensor is 7MP.

The OnePlus 6 is fueled by the Qualcomm’s highest rated Snapdragon 845 processor clocked up to 2.8GHz paired with Adreno 630 GPU. There’s 6GB or 8GB of RAM along with 64GB or 128GB of internal storage (depending on the variant). The storage cannot be expanded. If you need, 256GB of storage capacity then you can consider OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers variant but it is a limited edition and is also priced higher. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo with Oxygen OS 5.1 layered on top. The battery backup of the device is 3,300mAh with company’s Dash Charge support for fast charging. There’s no wireless charging support though. The phone does come with 3.5 mm headphone jack which is missing in iPhone X.

The Galaxy S9 Plus is powered by an octa-core Exynos 9810 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM. The inbuilt storage capacity options are 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. The storage can be further expanded up to 400GB via microSD card. The device is shipped with Android 8 Oreo out of the box and is backed by a 3,500mAh battery with fast and wireless charging support.

The iPhone X is backed by Apple’s latest A11 Bionic SoC coupled with 3GB RAM of RAM and 64GB/256GB of inbuilt storage. The storage on the iPhone cannot be expanded. The phone runs latest version of iOS 11.2 out of the box. The battery capacity of the device is 2,716 mAh with support for both wireless and fast charging.

The iPhone only features FaceID but does not have fingerprint sensor which is present in both OnePlus 6 and Galaxy S9 Plus. OnePlus claims that the improved fingerprint scanner on its latest flagship can unlock the phone in as quick as 0.2 seconds. However, the iPhone X is the only device available in the market to use 3D technology to unlock the phone via facial recognition, which is more secured as compared to facial recognition featured in any other device.

Last and of course not the least, let’s have a look at one of the crucial decision making factors- the price.

Starting with the most expensive of the three i.e. Apple iPhone X which will cost you about Rs. 88,000 for the 64GB memory variant and about Rs. 97,000 for the 256GB variant. However, this is please note that the price will vary from merchant to merchant.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus 64GB variant is priced at Rs. 64,900, the 128GB variant is priced at Rs. 68,900 and the 256GB variant is priced at Rs. 76,000.

The OnePlus 6 is the cheapest of the three and by a big margin. The 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant of OnePlus 6 comes with a price tag of Rs. 34,999, whereas the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant comes with a price tag of Rs. 39,999.

All three smartphones come loaded with features and top-end specifications and all three brands are well known for their after sales service. But the OnePlus 6 is an impressively loaded device along with an attractive price tag. It comes at almost half the price of Galaxy S9 Plus and iPhone X which makes it a real value for money device according to our view. If you are looking for a phone with premium specifications at mid-range price, then OnePlus 6 is the one you should consider.
