Nokia 3.1, the budget phone powered by the Android One OS has been launched in India. It was launched by HMD Global in Moscow in late May when the company had announced three phones namely the Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1, and Nokia 5.1. The company has officially launched its budget smartphone in India. The Nokia 3.1 packs in features such as its stock Android One certification, an 18:9 HD+ panel and is powered by a battery of 2,990mAh capacity.

As the phone is a part of the Android One programme, the Nokia 3.1 will receive three years of monthly security patches. Its users will also receive two years of major OS updates.

Nokia 3.1 will be available in India at a price of Rs. 10,499 for the 2GB RAM/ 16GB storage variant. As of now, this will be the only variant available in the Indian markets. The phone will be available in colours such as Blue/ Copper, Black/ Chrome, and White/ Iron colour options. From July 21 onwards, the phone will be available across major mobile retailers. It will be available online through Paytm Mall and Nokia’s online store.

If a customer buys a Nokia 3.1 from a physical retail outlet by scanning a Paytm Mall QR code, he is entitled to receive a 10 percent cashback on subsequent recharges and bill payments on Paytm. The customers who buy the smartphone will also be eligible for two Rs. 250 movie cashback vouchers. These vouchers can be redeemed against booking a minimum of two movie tickets via Paytm.

The customers who have ICICI Bank credit and debit cards are entitled to 5 percent cashback on purchase of the smartphone. While there is no clarity yet from the company, customers using Idea and Vodafone will also be able to avail certain benefits.

The Nokia 3.1 runs Android One-based Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. The smartphone features a 5.2-inch HD+ display which comes with a resolution of 720×1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The smartphone offers Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6750N processor clocked at 1.5GHz. The processor comes paired with 2GB/ 3GB of RAM and 16GB/ 32GB eMMC 5.1 storage, which is expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card.

As for its camera, the Nokia 3.1 packs a single 13-megapixel autofocus sensor with f/2.0 and an LED flash. It selfie and video calling front camera comes with an 8-megapixel fixed focus sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 84.6-degrees field-of-view. The phone is powered by a battery of 2,990mAh capacity.

The smartphone offers good connectivity options including 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone also offers inbuilt sensors including as accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity sensor. The Nokia 3.1 measures 146.25×68.65×8.7mm and weighs 138.3 grams.
