HMD Global has launched its new Android One smartphone dubbed as Nokia 2.2. The phone was launched at a press event in New Delhi and is successor to last year’s Nokia 2.1. Some of the key highlights of the device include Android One OS, waterdrop notch display, Face Unlock feature and a new Google Assistant button. It also packs the Digital Wellbeing features, including the Dashboard, App Timers, Wind Down, and the improved Do Not Disturb.

Nokia 2.2 Price and Availability

The Nokia 2.2 price in India is set at Rs. 7,699 for the base variant i.e. 2GB RAM + 16GB inbuilt storage variant. However, as part of an introductory offer, the 2GB RAM variant will be sold at Rs. 6,999. Similarly, the 3GB RAM + 32GB inbuilt storage variant of the phone is priced at Rs. 8,699 but it will be sold at Rs. 7,999 for a limited time. The limited period offer will last till June 30. In addition, the company is offering an instant cashback of Rs. 2,200 along with 100GB of additional data to Jio subscribers.

There are two colour options available for the interested buyers- Steel and Tungsten Black. The pre-bookings for the phone have already started and the sale will begin from June 11 via via Flipkart, Nokia online store, and several leading mobile retail outlets across the country.

Nokia 2.2 Features and Specifications

Nokia 2.2 sports a 5.71-inch HD+ screen with an aspect ratio of 19:9. The display has a waterdrop-style notch at the top that HMD Global calls as a discreet selfie-notch. Under the hood, the device is powered by a quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 SoC coupled with up to 3GB of RAM. There are two options in terms of onboard storage- 16GB and 32GB. The storage is further expandable up to 400GB by means of a microSD card. In terms of software, the Nokia 2.2 is an Android One device, which means it gets the regular, full-blown version of stock Android Pie. The phone also gets a dedicated Google Assistant button that will allow the user to quickly launch the AI with a simple tap of the button. All of this is backed by a 3,000mAh battery with 5W charging support.

In the camera department, you get a single 13-megapixel camera at the back with an f/2.2 aperture. The front also gets a single 5-megapixel snapper for selfies and video calls. As mentioned earlier, the front camera also doubles up as Face Unlock. In terms of connectivity, the Nokia 2.2 features 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, Micro-USB port, and GPS. The dimensions of the device are 145.96 x 70.56 x 9.3 mm and its weight is 153 grams.
