The rumour has it that HMD is hard at work to develop the Nokia 1. The leak comes from a tweet from Eldar Murtazin and was first reported by GizmoChina.
As per the source, the upcoming phone is going to be cheaper than the Nokia 2. It will run on Google’s recently announced Android Go software. It is a watered-down version of Android Oreo, specially developed to deliver good experience on entry-level hardware.
The Nokia 1 is expected to release in the first quarter of 2018. It will be first made available in March 2018 and could be priced around 5,490 rubles (approx. Rs 6,000). This affordable phone will be mainly pushed in emerging markets such as India, Brazil, and African countries.
You can expect the phone to feature an HD IPS display. HMD will most probably settle for 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage. While the source does not confirm the chipset, both Qualcomm and MediaTek’s chips are on the cards.
