TCL has announced the launch of a new special edition of Blackberry Key2. The Key2 special edition smartphone was seen in the ongoing MWC 2019 in Barcelona in red colour. The smartphone looks identical to the BlackBerry Key2 LE “Atomic” Red variant, which comes with a red frame and red accents for the keyboard.

The BlackBerry Key2 was launched last year in global markets including India. The trademark QWERTY and touch flagship smartphone from Blackberry is available offline and online including Amazon India. It comes with a price tag of Rs 42,990. The Key2 was only available in a black-silver colour combination till now. The new BlackBerry Key2 ‘Red Edition’ runs Android Oreo 8.1 operating system. This includes support for Google Lens and Google Pay.

This special edition features new Hub+ software. This software includes an added Action bar in the Hub+ application base which enables users to quickly access primary features such as search, sort and compose. While it retains the design of the original Key2, it offers a new colour option and an increase in internal storage, which has increased from 64GB to 128GB.

The BlackBerry Key2 Red Edition will be available in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia in the coming weeks. It will be priced at $749 which converts to around Rs 54,000. It will also include special edition earphone which is red in colour.

BlackBerry Key2 specifications and features

Under the stylish hood, the BlackBerry Key2 features a Snapdragon 660 SoC paired with 6GB of RAM. The onboard storage can be further expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card. The smartphone sports a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 1620×1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 3:2. A battery of capacity 3,500mAh powers the smartphone and it supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

In the camera department, the smartphone is equipped with a dual-camera setup at the rear. It comprises two 12-megapixel sensors working alongside each other. The camera comes with a portrait mode and can offer 2x lossless zoom. The camera offers an 8-megapixel shooter in the front. The special edition Key2 runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.
