Motorola Releases The List Of Devices Eligible For Android Oreo Updateby Rewati K September 15, 2017
Motorola has released its Android 8.0 Oreo roadmap. It details the list of smartphones eligible for the next version of Android. This update is said to be lighter compared to previous versions of Android. Thanks to better RAM management, app switching, longer battery life, smart text selection, and improved notifications. It retains the Split-screen mode which featured on the previous Android Nougat update.
Motorola mostly ships its phones with stock Android OS. Even with network operator deal, Moto phones hardly have any bloat. Moreover, the stock android nature allows the brand to push updates and security patches faster than its competitors.
Now without further ado, here’s the list of Oreo compatible devices:
· Moto Z
· Moto Z Droid
· Moto Z Force Droid
· Moto Z Play
· Moto Z Play Droid
· Moto Z2 Play
· Moto Z2 Force Edition
· Moto X4
· Moto G5
· Moto G5 Plus
· Moto G5s
· Moto G5s Plus
Android Oreo brings a variety of features including Picture in Picture (PiP) mode, adaptive icons, contextual press hold options, notification dots, and faster boot times. The split-window mode, as its name suggests, allows you to run two apps side-by-side.
The Picture in picture (PiP) feature is quite interesting, if not practical. You can minimise and turn YouTube or a video call into a corner of your screen while you carry on with another task.
Adaptive icons is a fancy way to call animated icons. Faster boot times is self-explanatory. Notification dots are notification bubble on app icons. It is a good way to keep track of pending notifications.
