Lenovo owned Motorola has launched a new smartphone in China dubbed as Motorola P30. Till date the company’s smartphone lineup consisted of the Moto G, E, Z and X series. With P30, the company has started a new P series. The P30 is the first smartphone from Motorola to feature an iPhone X like display notch at the top. But it doesn’t end there, the phone also carries design language which is very similar to iPhone X. Continue reading to know more about the handset.

Motorola P30 Price and Availability:

The base model of Motorola P30 i.e. 6GB RAM + 64GB storage is priced at CNY 2,099 (roughly Rs. 21,300), whereas the top model i.e. 6GB RAM + 128GB storage is priced at CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs. 25,400). There are three color options to choose from- Black, White, and Purple/Blue.

Moto P30 sports a 6.2-inch Max Vision Super AMOLED IPS LCD display with 19:9 aspect ratio and Full HD+ resolution of 2246 x 1080 pixels. The display comes with a notch at the top, but it is wider than usually found in other Android phones and resembles to the notch found on iPhone X. The phone features extremely thin bezels on the side and the bottom has a thin chin which packs the Motorola logo. The rear of the device features a centrally placed fingerprint scanner and a vertically stacked dual camera set up at the top left corner. The rear camera set up comprises of 16-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 5-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The front hosts a 12MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture and selfie flash. The front camera also doubles up as Face Unlock. The phones come with nano coating which makes it water resistant. Both the front as well as rear of the phone features 2.5D curved glass.

Motorola P30Under the hood, the Motorola P30 is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor. In addition, there’s an AI-powered graphics acceleration for smoother gaming performance. In terms of storage, there are two variants- 6GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB inbuilt storage. The storage can be expanded further up to 2TB, thanks to the dedicated microSD card slot.

The phone will be shipped with Google’s latest Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box along with ZUI 4.0 custom ROM and will be backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery. In terms of connectivity, the phone has dual-SIM support through hybrid SIM slot, 4G VoLTE, Wi.802.11 b/g/n/ac, v5.0 Bluetooth LE (Low Energy), USB Type-C, GPS and 3.5mm headphone jack.

The P30 is a ‘designed for China’ so the company doesn’t seem to have any plans as of now to launch it globally. Notably, the company is also rumoured to be working on other P-series smartphones dubbed as P30 Note and P30 Play. However, there is no official word yet on the same.
