Motorola One Leaked in Render: Could be Launched on August 2

by June 30, 2018

Motorola OneLenovo owned Motorola is hosting an event on August 2 at its headquarters in Chicago (2 pm CDT i.e. 12:30 am IST). Motorola posted a 11-second video it’s official US YouTube page to announce the event date. As per the description on the official announcement video, the launch event in August will bring about a “whole new way to connect, stream, download, video chat, and more.” In a statement to The Verge, Motorola also claimed that this announcement will “change the way people use and interact with their phones.” However, company did not reveal the names of the products to be launched. The speculation is rife that the company could launch Moto Z3 along with Motorola Power One. Now, a new leak by AndroidHeadlines suggests a third smartphone that could be launched dubbed as Motorola One.

As per the report, the Motorola One will be smaller than the Motorola One Power, but it is not clear if the that means a smaller display on compact size. As seen in the renders shared by AndroidHeadlines, the Android One looks very much similar to Android Power One, especially from front where both the phones sport an iPhone X like notched display and edge-to-edge screen. The back panel also very much identical to Motorola Power One as it features a vertically stacked dual rear camera set up along with Motorola’s logo which also doubles up as fingerprint scanner. But if you have a close look, then the camera set up of Motorola One is separated unlike in Motorola Power One. There also seems to be a difference in the flash placed between the rear camera sensors. The one seen in Motorola One Power seems like a dual tone LED flash, whereas the Motorola One seems to feature single tone LED flash. The Motorola One Power also seems to sport a glass back but the same seems to be lacking in Motorola One. Earlier reports suggest that the Motorola One Power will pack a 3,780 battery which signifies the Power. So, one can expect the Motorola One to feature a lower capacity battery and thus it could be slimmer as well.

There is no particular information available about the Motorola One’s features and specifications but the same are expected to be like Motorola Power One. Based on the leaks in the past, the Motorola Power One may sport a 6.2-inch display with 1880 x 2280 pixel resolution and aspect ratio of 19:9. Under the hood, the Power One may be powered by a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The rear dual camera set up could comprise of 12MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. While the front could host an 8MP selfie shooter. The phone may run Android Oreo operating system out of the box and could be fueled by a 3,780mAh battery. Unfortunately, the phone is expected to skip the 3.5 mm audio jack so you’ll need to carry an extra accessory in case you wish to use the same. The inclusion of One branding also hints that both the phones will be Android One devices. There can be two color options available for the user- Black and White.

Expected Specifications of Motorola One:

  • 6.2-inch display
  • Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 processor
  • 4GB of RAM
  • 64GB of inbuilt storage
  • Dual rear camera set up of 12MP + 5MP
  • 8MP selfie camera
  • 3,780mAh or lower battery capacity
  • Android Oreo operating system

When first revealed, the name Motorola One Power grabbed a lot of attention as the company was returning to using the Motorola branding for the first time in a long time instead of the Moto branding. It also hints that it’s not going to be a one-time affair and the company is likely to build on this going forward as a new line.
