Motorola Edge S 5G Launched With Snapdragon 870 And 6GB Ram, Here Are Price & Specs

This Snapdragon 870 SoC is revealed a while back and soon after the launch, Moto has announced to debut the chipset in its Edge S 5G. On Tuesday, The Lenovo-owned Moto has finally revealed the smartphone in the Chinese market. Before the official launch, the brand has often teased the details of the device.

A few highlights:

• Moto Edge S will sport Snapdragon 870. This will be the debut device for this Qualcomm chip.
• The smartphone is equipped with a quad-camera setup on the rear and a dual-camera array on the front.
• There will be 3 options in terms of storage combinations.

Motorola Edge S 5G: Key specs & features

The smartphone Moto Edge S will feature a large 6.7” screen with Full HD+ resolution. The LCD screen will come with a punch-hole cutout for dual front cameras and the refresh rate will be 90Hz. The display also supports HDR10. The rear panel of the smartphone will feature a gradient design with a square-shaped camera module. There will also be a fingerprint scanner integrated with the power button.

Coming to the optics, the quad-camera module will feature a primary sensor of 64MP paired with a 16MP sensor for ultra-wide shots. The rest two spots will be home to a time-of-flight sensor and a 2MP lens for depth sensing. The punch-hole display will house 16MP + 8MP selfie shooters. The primary camera on the rear will support video recording up to 6K 30fps.

At its core, Moto Edge S 5G will sport Snapdragon 870 that will come with X55 5G modem. The top-spec variant of the device will come with 8 gigs of LPDDR5 RAM and the onboard storage will be UFS 3.1 256GB. The whole package will be backed up by a huge 5,000 mAh battery which will offer fast-charging up to 20W. The device will boot on Android 11 out-of-the-box. Moto is also offering the Multi-screen Collaboration (MSC) that will allow users to project the content on a larger display.

Other connectivity features are 5G/4G/3G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, USB Type-C, dual GPS, and a 3.5mm audio port.

Pricing and availability

Moto Edge S 5G will be available in Emerald Light color and will be available at a retail price of RMB 1,999 (roughly ₹22,500). It will be the price for the base variant having 6GB + 128GB storage. The higher combination with 8+128GB and 8+256GB will be priced at RMB 2,399 (~₹27,000) and RMB 2,799 (~₹31,500), respectively. There are no details regarding the smartphone’s foreign availability.
