Top Reasons Why You Should Consider Moto Z or the Moto Z Playby Ryan Dsouza October 6, 2016
Lenovo recently launched 2 new modular phones – the Moto Z and the Moto Z Play priced at Rs. 39,999 and Rs. 24,999 respectively. The smartphones will exclusively be available only on Amazon and Flipkart from October 17, midnight.
Before you think of these as any other mainstream smartphones, let’s understand what makes them different and why you should be considering one of these.
Moto Mods for added awesomeness
We’ll talk about the specs of the new Moto Z series later. First, let’s have a look at something more exciting – the Moto Mods, which will further offer additional functionality to the Moto Z and the Moto Z Play. These will connect to the rear of the smartphones via a 16-dot connector. You can either choose to buy the mods separately or bundled with the smartphone. Note that the prices will vary depending on how you buy them – separately or bundled.
In case music is something that makes you come alive, snap in the JBL Soundboost and carry along a live concert right in your pocket. With Moto Insta-Share Projector, you get to watch your favourite movies on a 70-inch display, irrespective of the type of surface.
Hasselblad True Zoom adds to your phone a 10x optical zoom, something that one would desire as an aspiring photographer. If you can’t stop going click-click, make sure you have sufficient amount of battery backup with the Incipio offGRID power pack. Finally, add up some style to your device with the Moto Style Shell.
Currently, these are just a handful of mods meant to further enhance your smartphone experience. With time, more of these are most likely to be added to the existing list, thereby transforming your Z-series into a comprehensive productivity centre.
Jam-packed with a whole bunch of goodness
The Moto Z comes with a 5.5-inch QHD display with a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution. Adding more glamour to the party are the 13MP primary camera and 5MP secondary snapper. The device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC processor teamed up with 4GB of RAM. What’s most exciting is the 64GB internal storage with storage expandability of up to 2TB. Yes, you read it right, we did mean 2TB. That’s pretty enough to store most of your lifetime data. Finally, delivering a battery life of up to 22 hours is a 2600 mAh battery.
Just like the Moto Z, the Z Play too sports a 5.5-inch display but comes with a slightly better 16 MP rear camera. The front camera remains the same. Unlike the Moto Z, this one comes with 32GB of internal storage capacity which too can be extended up to 2TB. Lastly, the device packs in a slightly better 3510 mAh battery.
Both handsets will run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and come bundled with features such as a fingerprint sensor and a water-repellent nanocoating. No doubt, Lenovo may have priced the devices a bit higher compared to what its competitors have to offer. But, keeping in mind the mods and their usability, the devices are sure to add value to your money.
The future is in your hands
Gone are the days when you bought a brand new smartphone only to realise that the company has just launched a fabulous upgrade to your phone. What a way to regret? You wish you had waited a little longer. However, with mods, you can now upgrade your existing phone without leaving any room for regrets. And to be honest, this upgrade won’t be an ordinary one.
