Motorola all set to launch Moto M in India after its successful China launchby Sayli Jadhav November 29, 2016
Motorola recently tweeted saying “Something different is coming your way. Stay tuned to know more”. The tweet was accompanied by a picture of a device covered in gold. The teaser is definitely linked to the launch of the Moto M, as earlier this month Lenovo-owned Motorola launched a gold coloured variant of the smartphone in China.
Considering its price on the company’s Chinese website the phone is expected to cost approximately 20,000 INR. The press renders for the launch were leaked earlier by NowhereElse, MyDrivers, etc. and the Indian version is designed the same.
What To Expect?
Packed in a metal unibody, the Moto M has antenna bands on the top and bottom of the phone. Its dimensions are 151.35 x 75.35 x 7.85 mm and weighs 163g. Unlike the Moto Z series phones, the Moto M does not have a square button at the bottom. This also makes it Moto’s first smartphone with a fingerprint scanner at the back of the device leaving its front covered in glass completely.
Performance And Hardware
Under this screen is the 5.5-inch FHD Super AMOLED Display. The phone is also splash-resistant and equipped with a waterproof coating. You wouldn’t have to worry about taking selfies in the rain anymore. The processor is a 64-bit MediaTek P15 octa-core processor with a 2.2 GHZ clock speed accompanied by the Mali T860 GPU. With a 4GB LPDDR3 RAM and 32GB internal storage capacity, the micro SD card slot supports up to 128 GB of expanded memory.
The device is expected to be powered by the Android Marshmallow 6.0. The device could be upgraded to Nougat soon; however, the user will have to wait for this update. It’s charging port supports charging via USB C port using Moto’s turbocharging. The battery is an integrated 3,050 mAh to keep the smartphone running throughout the day.
For all those amazing pictures that you can now also take while it rains, the phone comes with a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 1um Pixel size. Some of the additional features include a dual LED flash and Auto HDR. The front sports an 8MP Camera with 1,12um pixel size.
This super smartphone can hold 2 SIM cards and has a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack. You can also find some other amazing features include its Dolby Atmos audio boost to get your party started everywhere you go. It has GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and A-GPS for its location tracker. Other sensors include the Fingerprint scanner at the back, the Vibration Meter, Electronic Compass, Accelerometer, Ambient Light Sensor and a Gyro and Proximity sensor.
Considering the price and features that the Moto M is packed with, it will be competing with some of the popular phones in the market like the Mi 5 by Xiaomi or the Honor 8 Smart. Can the phone bring in some of its Moto magic and take the markets by storm? Only time will tell.
