by October 31, 2019

Moto 360 watch was originally introduced in 2016 with a typical design featuring a touchscreen display.  Motorola had launched two generations of this watch and Moto 360 was buried after that. This year, it has made a comeback with a little twist. The watch is no more under the entire ownership of Motorola. A company, named eBuyNow, acquired the license from Motorola to sell it under the same brand. It would be interesting to have a look at how the company implemented WearOS on its hardware. eBuyNow is an electronic enterprise established independently and has a very reputed name in the market. It is not the first this company is doing this type of undertaking. In the past it had also collaborated with brands likes Samsung, Toshiba, Sharp, Panasonic, etc. in a similar way.

The reason for the discontinuation of Moto 360 was the limitations on WearOS (then Android Wear). In 2016, the wearable market had a very low customer base. As wearables are becoming increasingly popular, it is expected that the new Moto 360 might stand a good chance amongst consumers.

Moto 360 3rd Gen sports the latest Snapdragon quad-core chipset offered for wearable devices, i.e., Snapdragon 3100. The dial is a 1.2-inch screen with a resolution of 360×360 pixels. There are only two buttons present on the side of the dial, one is the scrolling crown having Moto logo. The second button is to open any app.

The display is equipped with an always-on feature that shows important information. The OLED panel helps in maintaining the battery levels. Under the hood, the Moto 360 wearable is equipped with 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage, and NFC. All the important sensors are present on Moto 360 3rd Gen such as heart rate monitor, GPS, etc. The watch has a battery of 355mAh, which is capable of charging from to 100% in just an hour. The watch can be paired with a lot of fitness apps. A great addition is the Google Assistant which is present by default on Moto 360 3rd Gen. The smartwatch also comes with a feature where you can enable battery saving and it will show only time, extending the battery life significantly.

Pricing and availability

There are three color variants available, Phantom Black, Steel Grey, and Rose Gold. However, there is no official date regarding the availability of Moto 360 3rd Gen in India. The watch will be available in the US for pre-orders on from next month. The watch falls in the premium segment and is priced at $350, which roughly translates to ₹25,000.
