When it comes to serious gaming, there are only two key players in the console market. The Japanese PlayStation made by Sony and American Xbox, developed by the software giant Microsoft. Currently, Sony’s PlayStation 4 outsells the Xbox One in most regions. So before moving onto the next big upgrade, Microsoft introduced a leaner and meaner Xbox One S that addresses all the complaints associated with the original Xbox One launched three years ago. Putting things into perspective, the Xbox One S comes in a smaller footprint as it is said to 40 percent smaller than its predecessor. It is touted to run quieter and is now HDR compatible. The new console also supports 4K video playback.
This souped-up version was available in the US and UK for quite some time. But, there was no word on its release in India. Finally, today, the gaming machine has gone up for pre-order on Flipkart and Amazon India. The Xbox One S with 500 GB storage is priced at Rs 29,990. You will have to spend Rs 34,990 for the 1 TB model. The console will start shipping on October 5. As an introductory offer, Microsoft is giving away titles such as Gears Of War 4 or Battlefield 1 to early birds.
The newly designed Xbox Wireless Controller features a textured grip for enhanced comfort and feel. Microsoft states the new controllers offer more wireless range and stable wireless connections than older consoles.
