Microsoft is primarily a software company But that doesn’t mean it can’t do hardware well. Just look at the new Xbox One X or the entire Surface series. Especially, the Surface Book is considered as one of the best hybrids in the market due to its design innovations and seamless Windows experience. Two years on, the company has rolled out the next iteration, called the Surface Book 2.

Microsoft claims that this machine is powerful enough to entice people interested in mixed reality, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and immersive gaming.

With its unique hinge design, the Surface Book 2 can transform from a full-fledged laptop to a portable tablet within seconds. The Surface Book 2 is powered by the latest 8th Gen Intel Core processors and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 and 1060 discrete graphics options. Microsoft claims that the Surface Book 2 is twice as powerful as the latest MacBook Pro. Moreover, it also promises all-day battery life with up to 17 hours of video playback.


The Surface Book 2 comes in 13-inch and 15-inch screen variants. The 13-inch version weighs in at 1.5 kg. The bigger model is under 2 kg. The Surface Book 2 line-up boasts of PixelSense Display with multi-touch and stylus support. It is compatible with Surface Pen and Surface Dial input methods. Microsoft has partnered with Adobe to make the most of the Surface Dial hardware in Photoshop.

The Surface Book 2 is not only about the work. It can also satiate the gamer inside you. It is powerful enough to handle the most popular PC games at 1080p and 60 FPS. With built-in Xbox One Wireless support on the 15-inch model, you can pair your Xbox One controllers without any hassle. The Surface Book 2 is also ready for Windows Mixed Reality headsets.

In the US, the Surface Book 2 will be available for pre-order beginning November 9. The product will start shipping from November 16.
