If you thought fairy tale princes and princesses are the only ones spoilt for choice, then you might want to think again. We may not all have wardrobes with a hundred shoes and dresses, but we do have as many choices when it comes to Smartphones! Be it any price range, any brand, any colour, any specification, any processor type, the consumer of today has a plethora of options when it comes to smartphones. The two new entrants in the field of smartphones are Micromax Canvas Amaze and the Redmi 2 Prime. Believe me, I know how confused one can get when there are wonderful options to choose from (see me in an ice cream parlor and you’ll understand what I mean!); that’s why we have here a basic comparison of the two handsets so that you can decide better. Read on to find out which one suits your needs better…
Starting with the display, the Micromax Canvas Amaze promises to amaze you with its 5” HD IPS display that supports a resolution of 1280 x 720p. It also comes with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection so that if you drop your phone, you don’t die of a panic attack.
On the other hand, the Redmi 2 Prime sports a 4.7″ screen protected by the AGC Dragontrail glass, and come with the same resolution support as the Amaze. So, on the display front, both the gadgets score similar.
There once was a time when people would ask if there was a camera incorporated in their mobile phones or not. It will be laughable if we ask the same question now, seeing how smartphones come with such amazing quality cameras. The Micromax device comes with a 13 megapixels primary camera and a 5 megapixels secondary one. The Redmi 2 Prime sports a lesser 8 megapixels primary, and 2 megapixels front camera. However, the front camera on the Redmi can capture HD videos, and uses the Beautify feature to smartly use 36 filters to enhance the image. It is suggested that you check out both the cameras in detail for further considerations.
The biggest justification for the “smart” in “smartphone” comes from the device’s ability to multitask. On that front, the Amaze comes equipped with a 1.3 GHz Mediatek quad- core processor, and 2 GB of RAM. The Redmi 2 Prime sports 64 bit system architecture with a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad core processor with 2 GB of RAM. Further, both the smartphone are dual SIM and support 4G internet speeds. Coming to the OS, the Amaze runs on the Android Lollipop with update for the Marshmallow in the pipeline.
The Xiaomi product has the classic MIUI 6 customization of the Android KitKat. Again, the processors on both the smartphones are more or less the same.
The Micromax Canvas Amaze has 8 GB of internal storage, expandable by another 32 GB while the Redmi 2 Prime comes with 16 GB internal storage, expandable by another 32 GB. With everyone needing extra storage, the Prime may be a better option here.
Lastly, let’s consider the price. The Indian born Micromax product is priced at Rs. 7,999 while the Redmi 2 Prime comes with a price tag of Rs. 6, 999. Not much difference here either.
All in all, it will be wise to get hands on experience with both the phones before you decide to buy either of them. It is a funda I use too… try out every ice cream before you decide to buy a scoop!
