Indian smartphone maker Micromax has launched Bharat-1. The company like to refer to it as ‘Desh Ka 4G phone’. The domestic brand is known for its affordable range of smartphones, tablets and computer components. So, it is no surprise that the Bharat-1 costs only Rs 2,200.
This 4G feature phone will be available starting from October 20. Bharat-1 comes bundled with BSNL’s 4G SIM with a nominal fee of Rs 97 per month with unlimited VoLTE calls and data. Moreover, BSNL provides over 100 TV channels ready to be streamed. The dumb-phone also supports more than 22 languages for ease of use.
The Micromax Bharat-1 is essentially pitted against the likes of Jio Phone. Unlike the Jio Phone though, the Bharat-1 is not locked to a particular network. You can simply toss out the BSNL SIM and opt for another one. So no effective pricing shenanigans of Jio.
As per the specifications the Bharat-1 sports a 2.4-inch display and is powered by an entry-level Qualcomm Snapdragon processor coupled with 512 MB RAM and 4 GB of internal storage. On the photography front, it features a 2-megapixel rear facing camera and a VGA selfie snapper. The phone is powered by a 2000 mAh battery.
