Chinese handset maker Meizu has expanded its product lineup by launching two new smartphones dubbed as Meizu V8 and Meizu V8 Pro. The entry level phones were announced at company’s gala event held in its hometown China earlier this week. Both the phones feature 5.7-inch displays but Meizu V8 Pro has slightly better specifications due to which it is priced higher as compared to Meizu V8.

Meizu V8 and V8 Pro Pricing:

The Meizu V8 comes with a price tag of RMB 799 which is roughly Rs. 8,400 and will be available in two colour options i.e. Black and White. Whereas the Meizu V8 Pro is priced at RMB 1098 which is roughly Rs. 11,600 and it will also come in two colour variants- Black and Gold. Both the phones will go on sale in China from September 26, but the pre-orders have already started on Meizu’s official website as well as on third-party websites like Tmall,, and Suning.

The Meizu V8 sports a 5.7-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with aspect ratio of 18:9 and screen resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. Under the hood, the phone is powered by Quad-Core MediaTek MT6739 SoC along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable via microSD card. The phone runs Flyme OS based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and is backed by a 3,200mAh battery.

In the camera department you get a 13-megapixel rear sensor with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture and a 5-megapixel sensor on the front for selfies and video calls. In terms of connectivity, the phone features Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, 3.5mm headphone jack and GPS.

As mentioned earlier, both the phones feature same display i.e. 5.7-inch HD+ display of 720×1440 pixels resolution with 18:9 aspect ratio. However, the Meizu 8 Pro has slightly better specifications. It is powered by MediaTek Helio P22 processor along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. It runs Flyme OS based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and is fueled by a non-removable 3,100mAh.

For the camera buffs, there’s a dual rear camera set up on the rear which consists of a 12MP primary sensor + 5MP secondary sensor with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture. For selfies and video calls, there’s a 5MP snapper with f/1.9 aperture lens.

In terms of connectivity, there’s 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ GLONASS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a Micro-USB port.

For security purpose, both Meizu V8 and V8 Pro feature a rear mounted fingerprint sensor and Face Unlock feature. There’s no information available yet regarding the availability of the phones outside of China. Stay tuned to our blog for more updates.
