Meizu, the smartphone manufacturer from China has launched its flagship smartphone – Note 8. The launch was done at an event held in China.

The Meizu Note 8 boasts of a full-screen design with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The phone is built to survive drops from a height. The company hopes to encash on the demand in the budget smartphones segment. The smartphone is equipped with a rear fingerprint sensor.

The Meizu Note 8 packs in a 6-inch full-HD+ LCD display. The display comes with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,160 pixels. A unique feature of the smartphone, as claimed by the company, is that the users can use the phone seamlessly even if their hands are wet.

Under the hood, the Meizu Note 8 is powered by the Snapdragon 632 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM. It comes with only one storage option of 64GB. However, users can expand the storage via a microSD card. The smartphone comes with a battery capacity of 3,600mAh which is comparatively lower than the 4,000mAh offered by its predecessor – M6 Note. If Meizu’s claim is to be believed, the good news is that the battery will still last an hour longer than the M6 Note battery. It can also charge faster as it comes with 18W fast-charging support.

In the camera department, the Meizu Note 8 packs in a 12MP primary camera with the Sony IMX62 sensor. This is complemented by a 5MP secondary shooter. The camera and the setup have been optimized to give good clicks even in low light situations. The selfie camera of the smartphone is a an 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. The ArcSoft algorithm used by the camera offers face beautification in selfie shots.

The Meizu Note 8 comes with connectivity options the include the dual-SIM, Bluetooth, microUSB, 3.5mm earphone jack, and GPS. The smartphone is priced at RMB 1,298, which roughly converts to Rs. 13,500. The Note 8 is available in colour options namely Black, Blue, Purple, and Red. The smartphone will be known as Meizu M8 Note in some international markets if the company decides on announcing the global launch.
