MEIZU 16X with Snapdragon 710 to Launch in September: CEO Jack Wong Confirms via Official Forum

by August 10, 2018

Yesterday, China based handset maker Meizu launched its latest M16 series of smartphones dubbed as M16 and M16 Plus. Speculations were rife that Meizu will launch a Meizu X8 powered by Snapdragon 710, but that didn’t happen. Now, the company’s CEO Jack Wong has officially confirmed in an online forum that the company is going to launch another smartphone in 2018 which will be powered by Snapdragon 710 and will run Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box. However, the device will be named Meizu 16X instead of Meizu 8X.

Jack Wong also confirmed that the phone will be unveiled next month i.e. September. He didn’t reveal any detailed specifications of the device but did mention that the screen will be larger than the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE, but the cost will be lower. The Mi 8 SE comes with a starting price tag of CNY 1,800 for the 4GB variant, so the Meizu 16X should cost less than that. Further, he also mentioned while replying to one of the users’ comment that the phone will feature an in-display fingerprint scanner just like its siblings.

Meizu 16XBased on the leak in the past, the Meizu 16X will carry same design language as that of its siblings Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus, but it is speculated to be the phone from Meizu family to sport iPhone X like notch at the top.

Update: The Meizu 16X recently showed up on Geekbench carrying Snapdragon 710 SoC with single-core score of 1851 and multi-core score of 5558 (Source: GSMArena)
