Monsoon is the time when ‘life’ on ‘earth’ seems to rejuvenate itself, isn’t it? Well, for the smartphone geeks ‘LYF’ has brought Earth 2 to rejuvenate their lust for technology! Wondering what we are talking about? Let’s get to the point. Reliance Retail’s subsidiary ‘LYF’ launched the Earth 2 on Monday. The device will feature a 5 inch display with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution.

In case you haven’t quite heard of the brand before, here are a few things you need to know. Established back in 2015, LYF is known to name its phones after the four elements of nature – Earth, Water, Wind and Flame. We’ll talk about these briefly in a while. But first, let’s have a look at what the ‘Earth 2’ has to offer.

LYF Earth 2 Specifications

  • 5 inch Full HD display 178° viewing angle

  • Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

  • 1.5 GHz octa core Snapdragon processor

  • 3 GB RAM

  • 13 MP Primary Camera

  • 13 MP Secondary Camera

  • 32 GB of internal storage, extendable up to 64 GB

  • 2500 mAh battery

Starting with the display, a five-inch is the minimum one you would expect in the present days when some screens stretch up to 7 inches. However, a standard 5-inch screen shouldn’t seem small if watching videos or play games is not your top priority. The 10-point multi-touch display offers a full HD 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution.

Currently, the device comes preloaded with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box. But, it won’t be wrong to expect an upgrade in the days to come.

LYF Earth 2 is a dual-SIM (Nano-SIM + Micro-SIM) smartphone with 4G support for both. However, only one slot will connect to 4G at a time, while the other will be connected to a 2G network.

The handset will be powered by a 1.5 GHz octa-core processor with Adreno 405 GPU clocked at 550 MHz. And of course, the processor teams up with a powerful 3 GB RAM.

While most of these features seem to be quite close to what other handsets offer, the camera is where the actual USP lies. The 13MP primary camera comes with a laser sensor and is capable of capturing the best quality photos even in low light. Check out the demo on the official website.

You can further add up creativity to your photos with the built-in pro-filters, frames and several other editing modes available.

In all, the handset comes with three security features – a retina scan unlock, fingerprint sensor and a pattern-based unlocking system. Moreover, the device also lets you encrypt your photos, videos and social media applications.

The Earth 2 makes it possible to switch between primary camera and selfie camera using a voice command. While you are taking a selfie, just say ‘smile’ and the photo will be captured.

32 GB of internal storage should be sufficient enough. The 2500 mAh battery promises to offer a talk time of up to 14 hours for people who love talking on phone for hours! The music lover and movie buff in you would appreciate the battery that offers up to 5 hours of HD video playback and 15 hours of audio playback. Other standard features include an accelerometer, light sensor, black screen gesture, auto answer, pocket mode, flip to mute and more.

20K for all of that is a good deal. Of course ‘LYF’ may presently not be the first choice on your mind when it comes to buying a new handset, but it’s worth noting that the brand has launched a few good handsets in the past which did manage to woo the mid-range smartphone seekers. So, if budget is a constraint and high-end features are what you are looking for, give LYF Earth 2 a try.
