Lenovo Z5s Confirmed to Launch on December 6: Will Feature an In-display Camera

by December 4, 2018

We are in the last month of 2019 and there are several handsets lined up for the launch. Samsung is launching its Galaxy A8s on December 10, Huawei is launching its Nova 4 on December 17 and so on. The highlight of the Galaxy A8s and Huawei Nova 4 is the in-display camera with a hole. There’s another device with similar design language which is scheduled to launch this month i.e. Lenovo Z5s. The smartphone has been subjected to some leaks/teasers in the recent past and now Lenovo has confirmed its launch date as December 6 via Weibo (Chinese micro-blogging site). This can make Lenovo as world’s first smartphone maker to launch a phone with in-display camera. However, unlike the Galaxy A8s and Nova 4 that have the camera hole placed on the top-left corner, the Lenovo Z5s will have it placed towards the corner where the notification bar is.

Lenovo Z5s launch date

Company has released a teaser poster of the Lenovo Z5s recently, which reveals that the phone will have a cutout for the front camera at the top center position instead of the top left corner, which is relatively less intrusive than waterdrop notches seen on a few smartphones launched in the recent past. It is expected to come with extremely thin bezel at the top and a slightly thicker chin at the bottom. The screen-to-body ratio is also expected to be impressive and better than Lenovo Z5.

According to some reports in the past, the Lenovo Z5s is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 octa-core processor along with 8GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage. It may come with a 6.3-inch full HD+ display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is also likely that the Lenovo Z5s LCD display will be manufactured by BOE, similar to the Samsung Galaxy A8s and Huawei Nova 4. In terms of software, the phone could run Android 8.1 Oreo-based ZUI 10 out of the box. All of this may be backed by a 3,210mAh non-removable battery with fast charging support. The dimensions of the device are speculated to be 156.7 x 74.5 x 7.8 mm. In the camera department you can expect a triple camera set up on the back. If true, it will become Lenovo’s first smartphone to feature a triple rear camera set up. For security purpose, the phone will feature a rear mounted fingerprint sensor instead of an in-display sensor.

There is a possibility that the Lenovo Z5s will be exclusive to Chinese market. Keep watching this space for more updates.
