Lenovo S5 Pro Launched in China

Chinese smartphone maker Lenovo has finally launched its much rumoured and talked about Lenovo S5 Pro smartphone. As the name suggests, the device is Pro variant of company’s S5 smartphone. It was launched at an event held in company’s home town. The highlight of the device is its quad camera set up i.e. two on the front + two on the back. Another key specification of the phone is the Snapdragon 636 SoC that powers the device.

Lenovo S5 Pro Pricing and Availability Details:

The base variant of Lenovo S5 i.e. 6GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage is priced in China at CNY 1298 (roughly Rs. 13,750) and the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1398 (roughly Rs. 14,800). The phone will come in three colour options- Ice Blue, Pure Gold and Jing Yao Black. The pre-orders for the phone have already started in China and the sale will begin from October 23.

There is no official word yet on the availability of the phone outside of China or in India. But as the company has launched a couple of devices in India recently, we can expect the Lenovo S5 Pro as well to hit the Indian market soon.

Lenovo S5 Pro Software and Hardware Configurations:

The Lenovo S5 Pro runs ZUI 5.0 flavored Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box and is backed by a 3,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging. Under the hood, the phone is powered by a Snapdragon 636 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM. There are two options in terms of onboard storage capacity- 64GB and 128GB. If you need more storage then you can expand the same up to 256GB using a microSD card. In terms of display, the phone features a 6.26-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with 2,246 x 1,080 pixel resolution and 18.7:9 aspect ratio. The display comes with an iPhone X like wide notch at the top which houses the selfie camera set up along with other sensors.

For the camera buffs, the phone comes with total four cameras i.e. two on the rear and two on the front. The dual rear camera set up is vertically stacked and comprises of 12-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.6 aperture + 20-megapixel secondary sensor with AutoFocus. The rear camera set up also supports 4K video shooting at 30 fps, 2x optical zoom, background blur, HR and camera scan mode. While, the dual camera set up on the front is a combination of 20-megapixel sensor + 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 dual apertures. Both camera modules are backed by AI-enabled features. The front camera set up can capture enhanced selfie shots as well as stylized portrait shots and it also doubles up as Face Unlock. In addition, the phone also has a rear mounted fingerprint sensor for security purpose.

For connectivity purpose the Lenovo S5 Pro features hybrid dual SIM slot, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB-C, 3.5mm audio jack. In terms of dimensions, the phone measures 7.7mm in thickness and weighs about 170 grams.

Overall, the Lenovo S5 Pro seems to be a good phone in terms of specifications. The USP of four cameras can give it a good push in terms of sales as most other phones in the similar price range come with triple camera set up (dual rear + single front).
