Tablets have become usual commodities these days. There are of course options now, between buying a very large phone like Galaxy Note II (for an exuberant price), but a dedicated tablet still has many things to offer. Karbonn Smart Tab 2 is one of the cheapest Tablets available in the Indian market. If you are looking to buy your first tablet, you would probably be confounded with the choices of whether to go with a cheap one and try the concept of tablet or directly go for a higher-end tablet to get the best right from the start.
The usual suggestion would be to start at a smaller level and then upgrade, based on the needs. Karbonn Smart Tab 2 seems like an ideal device for the entry-level shelve. Let’s have a look at its specs and features.
It comes with a 7” display, with TFT technology. It offers a resolution of 480-by-800 pixels. For those who are expecting to have a visual treat with the tablet, would be disappointed. The screen has a pixel density of 133 ppi, which is lower than some of the lowest end smartphones from Samsung. You can’t play videos above 480p either. However, for users who would surf the internet with the device, won’t be affected very much.
Processor and RAM:
It comes with a 1.2 GHz processor. The processor is supported by 512 MB of RAM. Those specs would make multitasking horrible. But, as far as single processes go, the tablet would handle them pretty well.
It comes with a 2 MP front camera only. Karbonn made a smart decision to drop the rear camera, because, no one really takes pictures with a tablet. The front facing camera would enable video chats.
OS and features:
It comes with Android Jelly Bean 4.1. Having to experience Jelly Bean at such a low price is really surprising. But, you get the latest apps compatible, and Google Play would make sure that your tablet is full of all sorts of apps worth using.
In terms of connectivity, it comes has Wi-Fi-only internet access. So, you would need to access Wi-Fi or have to use a dongle to access the Internet. It comes with Bluetooth 4.0. It also has a HDMI output port, with Full HD output (of 1080p) [that’s a relief!] and an audio jack output, of course.
In conclusion, Karbonn Smart Tab 2 isn’t an outstanding device. Even for the price range it’s being offered at, it doesn’t do too many new things. The only thing that probably makes it worth having a place in your shortlist is the Android Jelly Bean experience. It’s available around INR 7000. However, prices vary from market to market.
