Jio Lyf Water 3 Vs Asus Zenfone Go LTE: Which One Should You Buy?by Nawaf Khan December 28, 2016
Reliance has launched a new 4G enabled smartphone under its Lyf brand called the Lyf Water 3 with VoLTE. As if on cue, Asus launched a similar 4G enabled handset called the Zenfone Go. Both handsets are similarly priced at Rs. 6,599 and Rs. 6,999 respectively. The awkwardly named Lyf Water 3 is available exclusively on Flipkart and apparently only one Silver coloured model is available.
Both smartphones run on Android, but the Asus handset gets the newest Android 6 Marshmallow while the Lyf phone has to make do with Android 5.0 Mallow. The Lyf also includes the Jio Happy New Year offer with free data and calls up to 31st March 2017.
Lyf Water 3 Specs
Processor: 1.5GHz Octa-core
Rear Camera: 13-megapixel
Front Camera: 5-megapixel
Resolution: 720×1280 pixels
OS: Android 5.0
Battery Capacity: 3000mAh
Asus Zenfone Go LTE Specs:
Processor: 1GHz quad-core
Rear Camera: 8-megapixel
Front Camera: 2-megapixel
Resolution: 480×854 pixels
OS: Android 6.0
Battery Capacity: 2070mAh
As is evident from the spec sheet itself, the Lyf Water 3 comes with better hardware and specifications than the Asus smartphone. The notable exception is the absence of Android 6 Marshmallow which the Asus phone has. Other than the Android OS version, the Lyf Water 3 trounces the Asus phone in screen size, resolution, processing power, camera resolution as well as internal storage and RAM. The actual performance may or may not reflect the hardware specs, because Asus is by now a reliable budget smartphone company, while the Lyf series is relatively new in the smartphone business and is yet to prove its mettle.
Lyf Water 3:
More RAM and Storage
More processing power
Cameras with higher resolution
Bundled with Jio free data and calls offer
Relatively old Android 5.0 Lollipop
Only one sim supports 4G, the other sim only supports 2G
Available only on Flipkart with only Silver coloured option.
Asus Zenfone Go 4.5 with LTE
Comes with newest Android 6.0 Marshmallow
Both sims support 4G
Available on all major online retailers in a variety of colours like Red, Blue, Gold and Silver
Lesser RAM and storage
Lesser processing power
On paper, the Lyf Water smartphone looks like a much better option, but one can only find out after using both the devices extensively. The Asus phone does have some bells and whistles in its camera app. Like the PixelMaster technology and zero shutter lag that it offers. Other than that, and Asus’s experience as a budget phone maker, the Zenfone 4.5 LTE doesn’t have much going for it. The Lyf Water 3, on the other hand, is a much superior device and offers a decent set of features for a phone priced at just Rs. 6,599/-. Despite having lower specifications, the Asus smartphone, is priced at 6,999/-, about 400 rupees more than the other.
So, take your pick and get buying, because both smartphones are available online right at this very moment.
