Apple announced the iOS 7 at the WWDC conference held at the Moscone West Convention Center in San Francisco. The brand new platform seems to be stuffed with a bunch of brand new features, most of which have never been seen before. Apart from owning a brand new look (or call it a complete makeover), the latest operating system plans to fill in numerous empty spaces. So, what’s new? Let’s find out.
Regular app update:
The new integrated multitasking system allows the apps to update regularly while keeping a check on the battery. What big deal you may ask. Unlike any other operating system, the iOS7 keeps a tab on when you use a specific app and makes it a point to update it at the same time. Moreover, the system also updates multiple apps at the same time when the signal is strong.
A Much Smarter Siri:
The Siri gets a complete makeover with brand new services (such as Wikipedia, Bing, Twitter, etc) to provide instant answers to all your questions. Interestingly, the new Siri can now perform a few control functions such as turning on the Bluetooth or increasing the brightness. Plus, the voice is now much more life-like.
New Notification Center:
The notification center is worked upon from level one and now keeps you updated on what’s going on. As a result, you won’t miss out on your friend’s birthdays or any popular upcoming event.
More powerful photo app:
The photo app now allows you to to categorize your photos based on when and where they were shot, by assigning each category a relative title. Zooming out creates albums in a day-wise format. Zoom out another level, and the albums are now grouped year-wise.
Safari with a new look:
The browser receives a serious update with a 3D user interface for switching tabs. Plus you can now open up more than 8 tabs. Safari also includes the iCloud Keychain feature that lets you sync your passwords with your Mac.
Well, that’s not all. There is lot more to explore. The App Store will now automatically update apps and suggest good ones based on your current location. Moreover, Apple also introduced a perfect substitute for NFC called AirDrop. The interface lets you share data with others within in specific distance. Above all, the music player too has undergone a serious revamp with a brand new service added – the iTunes Radio. The iOS7 also includes a new super cool weather app that displays the weather in various cities with detailed animations.
The OS upgrade will be available for iPhone 4 and later, iPad mini, iPad 2 and iPad touch 5th generation.
