
Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite Tablet with 10.1-inch Display and Kirin 659 SoC Listed on Official Website
Huawei has silently launched its new tablet dubbed as the MediaPad M5 Lite. The tablet is a toned down version of MediaPad M5 that was announced during Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 at the start of the year. The mid-range tablet comes with an aluminum unibody and it was found listed on company’s official website which reveals the specifications, but the price is yet to be announced. Whether the tablet will be launched in Indian market or not also remains to be a mystery at this moment
According to the official listing, the tablet will come in two versions- Wi-Fi and LTE. There will be two colour options available for the users- Space Gray and Champagne Gold.

The MediaPad M5 Lite sports an impressive metal unibody build with 2.5D curved glass which gives it a premium look. The device flaunts a 10.1-inch IPS LCD screen with 1920 x 1200 WUXGA resolution and a pixel density of 224 ppi. The tablet also features ClariVU technology, which is claims to enhance display brightness and clarity for ultimate media viewing experience. In addition, there’s enhanced eye-comfort mode that claims to reduce harmful blue light emission from the display which in turn protects user’s eyesight. The display is complemented with quad-speaker audio system for good sound effect. The device comes with M-Pen lite stylus support.
Under the hood, the tablet is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 659 octa-core chipset clocked at up to 2.4 GHz with a Mali-T830 MP2 GPU for graphics. In terms of memory, the device comes in two variants- 3GB RAM + 32GB inbuilt storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage. The storage capacity can be increased up to 256GB using a microSD card. The tablet runs Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out of the box topped with EMUI 8.0. All of this is fueled by a 7500mAh capacity battery which has a Quick Charge (fast charging) support.
In the camera department, you get a single 8MP primary sensor at the rear and an 8MP fixed-focus sensor on the front for selfies and video calls.

For connectivity purpose, the device features Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, USB Type-C port, and 4G LTE (select variants only). In terms of dimensions, the tablet measures 243.4 x 162.2 x 7.7 mm and weighs about 475 grams.
In terms of specifications, the Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite seems like a good product that can provide stiff competition to the likes of Samsung Galaxy Tab lineup and other android tablets available in the market. It will be interesting to see the pricing details of tablet though.
