Building upon the success of Honor 6X, Honor 8, and Honor 8 Pro, Chinese company Huawei is prepping up to launch the Honor 9 in India. As per the invites sent out to local media, the launch event is set on Thursday, 5th of October in Goa.
The Honor 9 maintains the compact form factor of its predecessor. It has a thin profile of 7.4 mm and weighs in at around 155 grams. The phone sports a 5.1-inch Full HD screen. The phone features a glass back with a metal frame running around the edges.
The Honor 9 is powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 960 chipset. It comprises of an octa-core CPU with 4 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and the other four power-efficient four cores running at 1.8 GHz. It comes in three configurations – 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage options. It remains to be seen if the company launches the 128 GB variant in India as the phone comes with a microSD card slot.
The USP of the device is a dual-camera setup in a 20 MP+ 12 MP configuration. The 20 MP sensor is a monochrome one while the 12 MP module collects RGB information. The camera gets Hybrid autofocus combining the PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus) and Laser focusses. It is capable of 2X optical zoom and capturing bokeh effect shots. The selfie shooter is a single lens 8 MP unit with an aperture of f/2.0.
The Honor 9 will come in a dual-SIM avatar with 4G VoLTE support. The phone will run on Android Nougat out-of-the-box. As for the pricing, expect it to be in the range of Rs 25,000 to 30,000.
