Xiaomi’s sister company Huami has added two more models in its smartwatch lineup. In a recent event, the brand launched Amazfit GTR 2 and Amazfit GTS 2 in the Chinese market. Both the devices are next in line with Amazfit GTS and Amazfit GTR from last year. The features that Huami is bundling in these devices are almost similar, however, the designs are completely different.

Amazfit GTR 2: Key specs & features

When compared to the last year’s model, Huami’s GTR 2 comes with a much thinner design and offers an AMOLED circular display of 1.39” diameter. The bezels are also shrunk significantly. Amazfit GTR 2 comes in two variants, Sports and Classic. The Sports variant is housed in an aluminum body whereas the Classis offers a stainless steel build. The smartwatch will remain water-resistance up to 50 meters.

Huami is offering the blood oxygen level monitoring on Amazfit GTR 2, all thanks to the latest SpO2 sensor, and the users will also get continuous heart-rate monitoring with BioTracker 2 PPG sensor installed in the watch. On the fitness tracking side, the smartwatch will also offer PAI and sleep tracking. There are also a number of sports activity modes for both the indoors, as well as outdoors. There is also an in-built GPS for activities like running, etc.

The smartwatch will also let you leave your smartphone at home as you can connect your Bluetooth earphones for music. Users will get 4GB onboard storage to save the media. Amazfit GTR 2 will also offer you to answer calls right from its mic if the smartphone is connected, it doesn’t support e-SIM. It was a much-needed upgrade the users were looking for over last year’s Amazfit GTR 2.  The smartwatch is said to last 38 days if set to the basic mode and on regular use, it will last up to 14 days. The battery capacity of this wearable is 471 mAh.

Amazfit GTS 2: Key specs & features

With a 1.65” AMOLED panel, Amazfit GTS 2 comes with the same rectangular design that users have seen on last year’s GTS. The feature set offered by Huami here is almost similar to GTR 2 and its body is also constructed of aluminum. It comes with an extra protective coating of diamond-like carbon material.

The health and fitness features are identical to the Amazfit GTR 2 including blood-oxygen monitor, PAI, etc. However, the company promises to add 90 more fitness features in the very near future via an OTA. The 4GB storage, answering calls, and GPS are present on this variant, too.

The battery capacity on GTS 2 is expanded compared to 2019’s GTS, it’s now 246 mAh. On regular use, Amazfit GTS 2 will last 7 days and it will go up to 20 days on basic mode.

Pricing & availability

The latest Amazfit models will be available in multiple colors, i.e., Black, Gold, and Grey. The Sports variant of GTR 2 and Amazfit GTS 2 are available at RMB 999 (roughly ₹10,800) whereas the Classic variant of GTR 2 is priced at RMB 1,099 (roughly ₹11,900). The wearables are already on sale through Huami stores, and Tmall in China. Indian availability can be expected somewhere in the next couple of months based on the last year’s record.
