After being leaked online several times, the HTC U12 Plus is finally official in the US and Europe market. Fortunately, it is one of those rear flagships of 2018 which does not feature the iPhone X like top display notch.

variant is priced in the US at $799 (roughly Rs. 54,600) and the 128GB storage variant is priced at $849 (roughly Rs. 58,000). There will three color options to choose from— Ceramic Black, Flame Red and a unique Translucent Blue. t. Ceramic Black will only be available for 64GB variant. The Translucent Blue variant comes with a see-through glass back which allows the users to peek into the insides of the phone.

HTC has done noteworthy changes to U12 Plus as compared to its predecessor and thus the company boasts about it as the “biggest and boldest flagship phone ever.” The changes are primarily in the display, camera and Edge Sense technology.

 

HTC U12 Plus Display, Hardware, OS and Other Specifications:

The HTC U12 Plus sports a 6.1-inch QHD+ Super LCD display with 2880 x 1440 pixel resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The display also features Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. The bezels at the top and bottom are considerably slim and there’s no notch! Under the hood, the phone is powered by a Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 2.6 GHz paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, depending on the variant. The storage capacity can be extended up to 2TB using a microSD card. The phone runs Android 8.0 Oreo operating system topped with HTC’s Sense UI. The phone is IP68 certified for dust and water resistance. It is fueled by 3,500mAh battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging support. Company claims that the battery can charge from up to 50% in less than 35 minutes. However, despite the glass back the phone does not support wireless charging.

Talking about the camera department, the rear hosts a dual camera set up comprising of 12-megapixel wide-angle lens with f/1.75 aperture and 16-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.6 aperture. The front hosts two 8-megapixel selfie cameras with f/2.0 aperture and 84-degree wide-angle lens. Both camera setups offer bokeh effect.

HTC has also introduced upgraded version of its Edge Sense technology we saw debuted last year, which now allows users to program shortcuts within apps for taps, holds and squeezes on the sides. In addition, it also has the ability to detect which hand the phone is on to adapt its detection capabilities.

For security purpose, the rear features a fingerprint sensor and the front features face unlock. In terms of dimensions, the HTC U12 Plus phone measures 156.6 x 73.9 x 8.7-9.7mm and weighs about 188 grams.
