HTC confirmed that the U11 EYEs will be launched on January 15. The brand put out a teaser pic on its Facebook page today. The ‘EYEs’ moniker denotes it is set to wear dual lenses. Not much was revealed through the teaser pic. But thanks to Evan Blass, a popular tipster, who twitted some key specifications and images of the new smartphone from the Taiwanese manufacturer.
The HTC U11 EYEs sports a metal frame sandwiched between the glass on the front and back. It inherits the design from its bigger sibling the HTC U11. At the front there are minimum bezels on the top and bottom of the screen. It sports a 6-inch LCD3 screen with 1080x2160px resolution and carries a tall 18:9 aspect ratio. Underneath is a Snapdragon 652 chipset with with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of onboard storage. There’s an option for microSD expansion. The handset will come loaded with Android Nougat when it goes on sale.
On the photography front, it will sport a dual camera setup on the front and a single lens setup at the rear according to Evan Blass. It gets a fingerprint sensor at the back. The HTC’s Edge Sense will feature on this handset which lets you toggle functions and settings through a squeezable side frame. The phone is also IP67 water and dust resistant to guard it against accidental spills. The HTC U11 EYEs will get a USB Type-C with Quick Charge 3.0 support for fast charging. It will be backed by the 3,930 mAh battery which comes straight from the HTC U11+.
