As kids, the biggest decisions we had to make were choosing between a beyblade and a remote-controlled car; or maybe between playing in the park and heading home for video games. However, as we grew up, we realized that life was about so much more…okay, not being melodramatic here, we simply mean choosing from the plethora of smartphones that come our way! Sometimes, it can be fun to shop for a smartphone that best suits your needs. Here, we shall compare the HTC Desire 728, HTC Desire 828, and the OnePlus X :
Let’s discuss our first “Desire” shall we?! The HTC Desire 728, available in Gray, White, Blue, and Pink colours, sports a 5.5” Super LCD2 Capacitive screen which supports a display resolution of 720 x 1280p. Its sibling, the HTC Desire 828 comes in only White colour, sports a 5.5” Capacitive touch screen with a better display resolution of 1080 x 1920p. The Taiwanese brand’s oriental cousin, the OnePlus X, on the other hand, is smaller at 5” with 1080 x 1920p resolution at 441 ppi. Furthermore, the display on the OnePlus X is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. It’s a personal choice; if you prefer larger phone, you may opt for the HTC smartphones or if you’re more concerned about the durability of the phone, OnePlus X is a better choice.
HARDWARE & OPERATING SYSTEM
Coming to what gets these three little machines going…all three smartphones run on Android Lollipop, with apparent support for the latest Marshmallow update. On the processor front, while both the HTC products incorporate the Octa-core Cortex-A53, Mediatek MT6753 chipset, the Desire 828’s processor clocks a slightly better speed of 1.5 GHz as compared to the 728’s 1.3 GHz. However, OnePlus X is equipped with a Quad-core Krait 400, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor which clocks a far superior speed of 2.5 GHz. Additionally, OnePlus X comes with 3GB of RAM while both the Desires come with a lesser 2GB. So if you’re looking at multitasking as your most important goal, then OnePLus X is your go-to smartphone. All three smartphones come with 16GB of internal storage. OnePlus X supports 64GB, Desire 728 supports 128GB, and the Desire 828 supports a massive 200GB of external memory. If you’re a person always looking for “space”, then maybe the Desire 828 will be the companion you are looking for!
While all three smartphones boast of a 13MP primary camera capable of taking stunning pictures, the Desire 728 has a better resolution of 4208 x 3120 pixels, as compared to Desire 828’s 4160 x 3120 pixels, and OnePlus X’s 4128 x 3096 pixels. You may be willing to compromise on those extra pixels if you prefer the Optical Image Stabilization feature on the HTC Desire 828. All three cameras are capable of taking videos at 1080p@30fps. If you love flooding your Instagram and Facebook walls with selfies, then you may be enticed by the OnePlus X’s 8MP front-facing camera! The Desire 728 and 828 sport a 5MP and 4MP front camera, respectively.
Some specs that are common for all three smartphones include 4G connectivity and dual SIM support. So on this front; you will have no trouble choosing.
Lastly, let’s compare the prices. Aimed at those looking for mid-range smartphones, the HTC Desire 728 comes with a price tag of about Rs.15, 000; the HTC Desire 828 will cost you about Rs.20, 000; while the by-invitation-only OnePlus X will set you back by around Rs.17, 000.
