The Nokia Plus sports a 6-inch full HD+ IPS display with 1080×2160 pixel resolution and aspect ratio of 18:9. While the Redmi Note 5 Pro bears a 5.99-inch FHD+ display with 1080×2160 pixel resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. So, all three phones possess same display size but the resolution of Desire 12 Plus is slightly lower as compared to Note 5 Pro and Nokia 7 Plus.

HTC Desire 12 Plus is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6739 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable up to 2TB via microSD card. It runs Android Oreo 8.0-based HTC Sense UI. All of this is backed by a 2,730mAh battery.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro is fueled by a 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 636 processor paired with 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. There is an option to expand the storage up to 128GB via microSD card. The phone is shipped with Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system out of the box and is backed by a 4,000mAh battery with QuickCharge 2.0.

The Nokia 7 Plus is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC along with 4GB RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage which can be further extended up to 256GB via microSD card. The phone is fueled by a 3800mAh battery with fast charging. It runs Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

In terms of optics, the HTC Desire 12 Plus features a dual camera setup on the rear which consists of a 13MP BSI primary sensor and 2MP secondary sensor. The camera setup supports features such as Bokeh mode, Face detection, and Panorama mode. On the front, you have an 8MP BSI sensor with f/2.0 aperture and features such as Beauty mode and HDR.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro sports a dual camera setup of 12MP with f/2.2 aperture + 5MP secondary sensor with f/2.0 aperture. There’s a 20MP front camera with LED flash for selfies and video calls.

The Nokia 7 Plus also hosts a dual rear camera setup comprising of 12MP with an f/1.75 aperture and 1.4-micron pixels + 13MP with an f/2.6 aperture, 1-micron pixels. The camera setup also features a dual-tone LED flash and Zeiss optics. On the front, there’s a 16MP fixed focus sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, 1-micron pixels and Zeiss optics.

 

On paper, the Redmi Note 5 Pro seems to do slightly better than its counterparts. However, camera performance on paper may defer from the actual performance. So, it’s better to do further research if you are a camera buff.

Last but definitely not the least, let’s compare the pricing as well as availability of the three devices as its one of the key deciding factors.

The Desire 12 Plus comes with a price tag of Rs. 19,790. On the other hand, the Nokia 7 Plus is priced at Rs. 25,999. While the Redmi Note 5 Pro comes in two variants- 4GB RAM + 64GB storage priced at Rs. 13,999 and 6GB RAM + 64GB storage priced at Rs. 16,999.

Xiaomi is known for its aggressive pricing strategy and the Redmi Note 5 Pro is no exception. It has the best price and thus the value for money as compared to HTC Desire 12 Plus and Nokia 7 Plus. However, it’s difficult to get your hands-on Redmi Note 5 Pro as it is sold via flash sales exclusively via Flipkart.com.

Considering the specifications and especially the price, we feel the Redmi Note 5 Pro is a better deal as compared to HTC Desire 12 Plus and the Nokia 7 Plus.
