The other highlights of the phone include Kirin 980 chipset and 4,000mAh battery. Overall, the Honor V20 features flagship like specifications but comes without a premium price tag. Today, we’ll compare it with other two aggressively priced flagships- Oneplus 6T and Oppo R17 Pro to find out which one wins this battle of affordable flagships.

Honor has always been on the forefront when it comes to the aesthetics and the View 20 is no exception. The phone has striking looks due to its futuristic design that includes all-View (almost bezel-less) display at the front, punch-hole camera display and shimmering V-shaped design at the back. It features an aluminium frame and chassis sandwiched between two sheets of glass. The display is almost bezel-less but still having a visible chin. The phone comes in three color options- Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue and Phantom Blue.

The OnePlus 6T has premium glass metal body but is slightly bulkier than the OnePlus 6. The company uses a 3D glass back on the phone which looks as well as feels great. The phone is comfortable to hold and provides a firm grip. It’s available in two colors- Midnight Black and Mirror Black, however the base variant is only available in the Mirror Black color.

One of the highlights of Oppo R17 Pro is its design. It features an immersive Waterdrop display up front and an all-glass body. The rear panel gets a 3D curved Gorilla Glass 6 protection, which makes it the first smartphone in India to get Corning’s new toughened glass. What adds to the beauty of the phone is its gradient Radiant Mist colour option that offers a dynamic blend of blue and purple hues which shift depending on the available light. You also have a simple Emerald Green color option if you don’t like the gradient color. Overall, the phone has a very premium look for its price.

In a nutshell, all three phones come with great looks and it is difficult to pick one. Anyways design is a matter of choice, so we leave it up to you to decide.

Let’s talk about the display now, starting with Honor View 20. On a table, the Honor View 20 looks like any other smartphone with rounded corners and straight lines on the front until the display is on. That’s when you’ll notice the unique hole in the display to house a selfie camera. The punch-hole is 4.5mm in diameter and situated on the top left corner. The phone features a 6.4-inch full-HD+ (1080 x 2310 pixels) TFT LCD All-View display along with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The Oneplus 6T offers a 6.41-inch AMOLED display panel with 2340 x 1080 pixel screen resolution, 402ppi pixel density and 19.6:9 aspect ratio that results into 85.6% screen to body ratio. The display also features an in-screen fingerprint scanner, which is one of the highlights of the phone. The Oppo R17 Pro sports a 6.4-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2340 pixel screen resolution, and a 91.5 percent screen-to-body ratio. The display has water drop shaped notch at the top and a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 6 for protection against scratches. All three phones are almost at par in terms of display but the OnePlus 6T gets a slight edge over the other two.

In terms of dimensions, the Honor View 20 measures 156.9 x 75.4 x 8.1 mm and weighs about 180 grams. The OnePlus 6T has dimensions of 157.5 x 74.8 x 8.2 mm and weight of 185 grams, while the Oppo R17 Pro has dimensions of 157.6 x 74.6 x 7.9 mm and weight of 183 grams. So, the Honor View 20 is the lightest, while the Oppo R17 Pro is the slimmest of the three phones.

The Honor View 20 draws power from an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC, coupled with 6GB and 8GB RAM options. It comes with 128GB and 256GB of inbuilt storage options but without a microSD card slot for expansion. The OnePlus 6T is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, coupled with either 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. It comes with either 128GB or 256GB of inbuilt storage, which is not expandable via microSD card. The Oppo R17 Pro has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC underneath to keep things ticking along with 8GB of RAM. There is 128GB of inbuilt storage on the Oppo R17 Pro, expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB) in a hybrid dual-SIM configuration. Both Honor View 20 and OnePlus 6T put up a good performance due to their strong chipsets whereas the OPPO R17 Pro lags behind in this department.

The Honor View 20 runs Magic UI 2.0 on top of Google’s latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box. It packs a 4,000mAh capacity battery with support for fast charging. The OnePlus 6T runs on OxygenOS 9.0.2 based on Android 9.0 Pie and is fueled by a slightly smaller 3,700mAh battery with fast charge that can deliver a full day of power in 30 minutes of charge as claimed by the company. The Oppo R17 Pro still runs ColorOS 5.2 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box. It has a 3,700mAh battery underneath to keep things ticking along with support for Super VOOC Flash Charge tech.

In our opinion the OnePlus 6T has a better software as compared to the other two. While, in terms of battery, the Honor View 20 is a winner due to its bigger 4,000mAh battery. You may also like the Oppo R17 Pro as it has a faster charging support as compared to the other two.

The Honor View 20 is the world’s first smartphone to offer a 48MP Sony IMX586 CMOS sensor on the back that offers superior clarity and detail. There is also a secondary ToF (Time of Flight) rear camera on board to obtain depth information. The front hosts a 25MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture.

The OnePlus 6T also has a dual camera setup on the back that consists of a 16-megapixel primary Sony IMX519 sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and 1.22-micron pixels + a secondary 20-megapixel Sony IMX376K sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and 1-micron pixels. The rear camera is capable of shooting 4K video at 60fps as well as Super Slow Motion Videos and features a dual-LED flash. It also features OIS and EIS. The front gets a 16-megapixel Sony IMX371 sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and 1-micron pixels. It supports EIS, and can record 1080p videos at 30fps and 720p video at 30fps. OnePlus is also touting its improved low-light photography feature called as Nightscene.

The Oppo R17 Pro gets a triple camera module on the back comprising of a 12-megapixel primary sensor with variable aperture from f/1.5 to f/2.4 + a 20-megapixel secondary sensor with an f/2.6 aperture + a third TOF TOF 3D stereo camera that assists in depth effects. The rear camera setup features OIS (optical image stabilisation) and Dual Pixel PDAF. For selfies and video calls, there’s a 25-megapixel camera on the front with an f/2.0 aperture. The front camera features an AI Beauty Camera option.

In our view, the Honor View 20 is a winner in the camera department. However, we would recommend referring actual user reviews before you make a purchase decision based on camera.

The Honor View 20 is priced in India starts at Rs. 37,999 for the base variant i.e. 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, while its top variant i.e. 8GB RAM + 256GB storage is priced at Rs. 45,999.

The OnePlus 6T price in India starts at Rs. 37,999 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. The 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 41,999 and the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 45,999.

The Oppo R17 Pro price in India is set at Rs. 45,990 for the lone 8GB RAM + 128GB inbuilt storage variant.

No doubt, the Honor View 20 and OnePlus 6T are better priced as compared to the Oppo R17 Pro.

Although Oppo R17 Pro is a good phone, it loses this battle primarily due to its pricing. The Honor View 20 and OnePlus 6T are neck-to-neck. The Honor View 20 has a better design along with some AI-enabled features which makes it a cutting-edge package, while the OnePlus fans will still like the OnePlus 6T for its power and plain vanilla Android experience. It’s a tough call but our pick would be Honor View 20.
