Huawei’s sub-brand Honor launched a budget smartphone dubbed as Honor Play at the start of the month. Now, the company has announced a new Nebula Purple color variant of the phone.

Honor Play Nebula Purple Pricing and Availability:

The 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant of Honor Play Nebula color is priced at CNY 1,999 (i.e. roughly INR 20,600 and USD 300) for a 4+64GB version and CNY 2,399 (€310) for the 6+64GB one.  It will go on sale at company’s home town China from July 2.


Honor Play Nebula Purple Features and Specifications:

The Honor Play is built for gaming purpose. It features GPU Turbo technology that significantly enhances the performance of the phone’s GPU. As claimed by the company, it improves the graphics processing proficiency by about 60 per cent and consumes 30 per cent less power, thus it delivers a better gaming experience. It also has a 4D Haptic feedback (for 4D gaming experience), which provides accurate vibrations while playing games i.e. when a bomb goes off or your car collides with some object the phone will vibrate to give more immersive gaming experience. In addition, the phone also delivers 3D sound audio. The display has a layer of special film to reduce glare which safeguards the eyes of users during long gaming sessions. The phone can smartly switch between Wi-Fi connection and mobile data when there is poor connectivity which provides the users with an uninterrupted game play.

In terms of other specifications, the Honor Play sports a 6.3-inch FHD+ display with a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. The display has an iPhone X like notch at the top. Under the hood, the phone is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset with Mali-G72 MP12 graphics along with 4GB/6GB of RAM. The internal storage capacity of the device is 64GB which can be extended up to 256GB using a microSD card. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box topped with company’s own EMUI 8.2. All of this is backed by a 3,750mAh battery which can last up to a day’s worth of gaming in single charge.

In terms of optics, there’s a dual camera set up on the rear which comprises of 16MP primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 2MP secondary sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The rear camera set up comes with support for AI shooting and AR gestures. The front hosts a 16MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture.

The Honor Play gaming phone competes against the likes of Razer Phone, Xiaomi Black Shark, Nubia Red Devil and the recently-launched Asus ROG Phone.
