Honor was expected to launch its Honor 8A handset in China on 8th January, but the company has made the handset available earlier than expected dubbed as Honor Play 8A. It is still unclear if the name is restricted to Chinese market or will get carried forward to global markets as well. The highlights of the device include 6-inch water-drop display, Helio P35 SoC and 3,020mAh battery.

The Honor Play 8A Price and Availability Details

The Honor Play 8A price in China starts at CNY 799 (approx. Rs. 8,150) for the 32GB inbuilt storage variant and CNY 999 (approx. Rs. 10,200) for the 64GB internal storage variant. The colour options available for the users are at the moment are Magic Night Black, Aurora Blue, and Platinum Gold. However, promotional launch posters also showcase a Charm Red color variant and the company may release that model at a later date. The phone will go on sale in China starting from January 9. There is no information yet regarding the phone’s availability outside of China.

The Honor Play 8A comes with 6-inch HD+ (1560 × 720 pixels) FullView display with 19:5:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass. The display comes with a water drop shaped notch at the top which houses the selfie camera. In spite of that, there are still noticeably wide bezels along the sides and a sizeable chin at the bottom. Under the hood, the device is powered by powered by the 2.3GHz ARM Cortex A53 Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P35 12nm SoC along with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU for graphics and 3GB of RAM. There are two options in terms of onboard storage- 32GB and 64GB, expandable up to 512GB with a microSD card. The Dual SIM (nano + nano + microSD) phone runs Android 9.0 (Pie) with EMUI 9.0 OS out of the box and is backed by a 3,020mAh capacity battery.

For the camera buffs, there’s a 13MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture that resides at the rear of the phone and an 8MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture unit that sits at the front for selfies.

Connectivity options included in Honor Play 8A are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, MicroUSB 2.0, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. In terms of dimensions, the phone measures 156.28 x 73.5 x 8.0 mm and weighs in at 150 grams. Surprisingly, the phone does not feature a fingerprint sensor but comes with face unlock technology.
