
Honor 8S with MediaTek Helio A22 SoC and Face Unlock Launched in Russia
Huawei subsidiary Honor has silently announced its latest budget offering dubbed as Honor 8S. The entry-level smartphone has been unveiled in Russia and is basically identical to Huawei Y5 2019, but with a slightly different design. The highlights of the phone include MediaTek Helio A22 SoC, 5.71-inch HD+ display, 3,020mAh battery and Face Unlock support.
Honor 8S Pricing Details
The Honor 8S is priced in Russia at RUB 8,490 which roughly translates to Rs. 8,900 for the lone 2GB of RAM + 32GB internal storage variant. The phone will go on sale beginning April 26 and will be available in three colour options- Black, Blue, and Gold.
Honor 8S Features and Specifications
Display: The Honor 8S features a 5.71-inch HD+ screen with 720×1520 pixel screen resolution and 84.6 percent screen to body ratio. The display comes with a tiny dew drop shaped notch at the top which houses the selfie camera and helps to improve the screen-to-body ratio.
Processor and Memory: The device is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 processor clocked at 2.3GHz along with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU. In terms of memory, there’s 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 512GB via a microSD card slot.
Software: It runs EMUI 9.0, which is based on Google’s latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system.
Battery: All of the above is backed by a 3020mAh battery.
Connectivity Options: 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and Micro-USB 2.0.
Camera: In terms of optics, there’s a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and a 5-megapixel front shooter with f/2.2 aperture for selfies. The front camera also doubles up as Face Unlock for security purpose, but it lacks fingerprint sensor.
Dimensions: The phone measures 147.13 × 70.78 × 8.45 mm and weighs 146 grams.
